North - Emporers New Clothes. Not a centre as long as he has got a hole in his ass

I'd still keep North in that squad, even if just for impact off the bench. He's learning as a centre, albeit he's come late to that position and I don't think will ever be regarded as one of the great centres. I'm not entirely convinced by Tompkins who can make some eye-catching breaks later in the game but can also be very anonymous when up against good opposition.

Hawkins has got a good future ahead of him (hopefully with minimal injuries) and no-one else has really nailed down the 12 shirt. Jonny Williams would be my second pick for that shirt, although Hawkins has got a better all round game in my opinion.

Hey amigo, you know you got a face beautiful enough to be worth 2,000 dollars ?

I would pick North when he is fully fit, but prefer it when he is paired with a defensively sound 12. I thought he played well alongside Jon Davies in 2021, although I wouldn’t pick Davies any more. I worry about him and Tompkins as a combination, but think he could go very well alongside Jonny Williams. He might also benefit by playing alongside a regional colleague like Hawkins or Owen Williams.

Gatland may well have a look at Grady at 13.

Grady has a lot of potential, but that would be a huge risk for Gatland to have such a young and untried centre partnership in Grady and Hawkins.

Problem is that we don't really have a centre partnership. We've got a load of players who have taken turns there for the past 3 years so no one is settled. North has been (I think) the most consistent wearer of the 13 shirt) and Tompkins has been generally picked somewhere when available. Otherwise its been a real selection box of players.

I liked what I saw in Hawkins vs Australia and with the exception of Jonny Williams pre-injury I can't see anyone else who has nailed down the 12 shirt. I wonder whether Scott Williams could have done well there but thats a moot point now I feel. But I'd prefer an experienced 13 alongside Hawkin whilst he develops. Is North considered to be an experienced 13 yet? Is Tompkin?

I was going to suggest that Llewelyn is also worth a look except he is likely to miss the 6N so has to realistically be a real outsider for the RWC.

I can see Gatland going for Jonny Williams and North at first, if Williams is fit. I think he’ll call up Grady to have a look at him though.

I agree that Scott Williams might have run out of time, unfortunately.

Haddleigh Parkes is probably a step too far
It's hard to think of another player who did so much for Wales in such a short career.

But yes, there are limits! :-)

Gotta say I'd rather Keiran Williams at 12 than Hawkins. Hawkins is very promising but he's not performing close to Williams this season.

But (following the topic) if we're going for players assuming they're in their best form I'd pick Johnny Williams.

Which is all a bit tough on Tompkins, coz he's a classy player too.

The Fail is pushing this guy, who I admit really looked the part against Leinster. We seem to have a lot of centre talent coming through.

Joe Roberts was very good for the Scarlets on the weekend, he's the real deal skill wise, likewise Hawkins, unfortunatelty neither have had anywhere enough regional games to make the match day 23.

He did look the part but then dropped an easy ball at the death..... jury still out for me.

The jury can't really stay "out" on KW much longer; he's already 25. I've no doubt he'd be on 20+ caps if not for his injuries. The difference this time is that he's looking consistent; instead of brilliant one week, anonymous the next, then out for 4 months...
