Enjoyed Princess Ronaldo's criticism of Iceland.
What on earth was he expecting them to do?

It's western media disinformation. Obviously.rowan wrote:I had an argument with my English colleague about this on the way home today. He said the English hooligans are poor victimized little darlings who everybody likes to wind up, and that the Russian Neo Nazis carried out a premeditated attack on them for no reason. But I pointed out that I saw the English hooligans on telly the other day singing racist songs about all the other countries. He claimed this was propaganda. In that case they must have done a pretty good voice over!!
It's not prejudice if it's factual. & you agree yourself that it's factual.Stones of granite wrote:It's western media disinformation. In any case, your (and to be honest, also mine) prejudices are about to be proven founded, as it seems that there are bus loads of English yobs on their way to France to take on the Russians at their own game.
No, there is a difference between perceptions and facts. I perceive all football fans and English ones in particular to be boorish twats. The facts on the ground are that Russian fans launched an unprovoked attack on English fans inside the stadium in Marseille. This is the act for which the Russian team was punished by UEFA, not the twattish behaviour of all the fans outside on the streets.rowan wrote:It's not prejudice if it's factual. & you agree yourself that it's factual.Stones of granite wrote:It's western media disinformation. This has been rattling around in my mind for awhile now. It's an incredibly believable assertion. I'd be fascinated to know more.twitchy wrote:
The russians had been planning that attack for months. They aren't "hooligans" in the british sense they are off duty police/army. Very suspect how they managed to get into the country in the first place.
It Wales beat England, disqualification might not be an issue for either Russia or England.WaspInWales wrote:I was almost willing the Russians to kick off in the stadium....then I thought of the embarrassment if England still failed to get out of the group!
I didn't dispute what the Russians did, but I thought it would have been more appropriate to punish both sides, that's all.Stones of granite wrote:No, there is a difference between perceptions and facts. Give your head a wobble and see if you can unmuddle perceptions from facts.

For the scenes on the streets, both FAs were warned.rowan wrote:I didn't dispute what the Russians did, but I thought it would have been more appropriate to punish both sides, that's all.Stones of granite wrote:No, there is a difference between perceptions and facts.
