I'd like to see it structured so that the top 4 ranked teams can win every match to ensure a path to the semis. If they lose along the way, all bet's are off, but having the ability for the best teams to make the semis by winning should be the starting point.

Effectively that’s what they’re doing in the football World Cup. The top four teams (Spain, Argentina, France and England) are being placed in different parts of the draw so that if they win their groups they can’t meet in the knockout rounds before the semi-finals.
