Ffs, dominate for 10 minutes and then give them something for nothing.

I'm still mesmerised by the light show before the teams emerged... What on earth were the organisers thinking?

Ford needed to take the tackle there.

The ref gave the penalty the wrong way. 6 was hands before getting anywhere near the ball. Blatant. Halfpenny doesn't get anywhere near the ball the before an England defender is involved and hence ruck is formed. Shocking decision really.Mellsblue wrote:Ford needed to take the tackle there.
Welsh defence initially did really well to block off the support for Ford.

He still isolated himself by running away from his support. The rest is a result of a poor decision.FKAS wrote:The ref gave the penalty the wrong way. 6 was hands before getting anywhere near the ball. Blatant. Re: Squad for Wales
Be fair. He had the support of mine man left and one man right. He should have had the support of 4-5 men left, so it wasn't that bad a decision.Mellsblue wrote:He still isolated himself by running away from his support. It wasn't Ford's fault no-one else got their to support, or that the man in his left had no interest in getting involved in the ruck.
Fro the TV angle, we could see those supporters were JJ and Young's, with no-one else, which makes it obvious that you want JJ supporting you. On pitch, he'd k is he had 1 man in each side, and that one of them is JJ, but that the cavalry should be on his left.

He ran away from his support. Whether it should’ve been there or not is moot. It wasn’t there and he therefore made the wrong call.Which Tyler wrote:Be fair. I’ll happily argue he’s the best 10 in the world but he made the wrong decision on that occasion.

That was the one time where the little grubber through *was* the right tactical decision!Mellsblue wrote:He still isolated himself by running away from his support. Getting increasingly irritated with the repeated cuts to EJ staring impassively. Does the director get something out of it I don't?

I don't know how Poite is saying that is clearly Wales 3 going down. That looked like Mako having his legs too far back to me. I think we are getting the rub of the green from the ref.

Re: Squad for Wales
The little dink into the right hand corner was definitely on. The Welsh defence did well to isolate him and force him to the left. After that he's treading water waiting for a forward to catch up with play. I certainly don't think it was his choice to run that way but he's got to go to the boot rather than take the tackle.Puja wrote:That was the one time where the little grubber through *was* the right tactical decision!Mellsblue wrote:He still isolated himself by running away from his support. Imperious defence at the end of the half.

I think refs decided we're on top. I agree with Flats that was a reset. Samson Lee certainly hinges a little easily but you are right Mako wasn't supporting his weight and his legs were too far back.Puja wrote:I don't know how Poite is saying that is clearly Wales 3 going down. Well that was a bit crap. We may be slightly overdoing the kicking!! especially as it’s soo poorly done.

Re: Squad for Wales
Poite is giving some comedy decisions today. How was that a Welsh scrum? England in possession, ball coming very slowly out, if it's any decision at all, it's an England scrum. All's well that ends well though.
We've had worse halves, but not by a great distance. At least we stopped autokicking after the wondrous tactic gave away the Welsh try.

JJ has been truly brilliant at catching the ball with arms away from the body.

He called use it about 30 seconds before and then sinker fell on it blocking it.Puja wrote:Poite is giving some comedy decisions today. How was that a Welsh scrum? All I want to say is that final turnover... perfect tackle from launch. To be able to turn such an experienced and strong carrier over with such apparent ease was beautiful to see.

Poite reconfirming I know very little about the front row at scrum time.
As for the game, not massively enjoyable apart from the high class kicking display from our 10 and 12, with notable guest appearances from Youngs and Slade

Quite the contrast possession and territory-wise to last week.

Joseph just looks such a natural ball player. In that respect he is the complete contrast to Farrell.JellyHead wrote:JJ has been truly brilliant at catching the ball with arms away from the body.

He could’ve just taken contact by staying on his running line and forced a ruck with plenty of support on hand. He isolated himself.FKAS wrote:The little dink into the right hand corner was definitely on. The Welsh defence did well to isolate him and force him to the left. Good to see the ref blowing after the "use it" call was ignored. I thought Young's was waiting for the hooter.JellyHead wrote:He called use it about 30 seconds before and then sinker fell on it blocking it.Puja wrote:Poite is giving some comedy decisions today.
