There was a good set of fights from Vegas on Saturday night, topped by Manny v Jesse Vargas, Manny won to gain his 8th World title.

The Donnaire v Magdalena fight was a good one too and the Chinese fighter Shimming looks a real handful.

Andre Ward v Sergey Kovalev on Sky Sports 2 a.m. Sunday morning .

Could be interesting , lets hope Kovalev can push Ward out of his easy going sparring style .

Went to the wire with Ward just nickin it by a point . Must admit I love watching Ward get out trouble , very easy on the eye . First time on the deck but the most polished boxer . Kovalev obviously upset but pushed Ward all the way .

Wasn't a great spectacle but as you say Ward is a classy operator, Kovalev was made to look quite ordinary for much of the second half of the fight imo.

Tony Bellew v David Haye

This promises to be quite amusing, Tony Bellew is going to get marmalised.

Aye, absolutely insane. I hope all involved receive bans and/or get their licenses revoked.

I can't help thinking that quite a few unlicensed or, physically unfit boxers regularly take to the ring (even if just sparring) when they shouldn't. It's no doubt quite tricky to regulate but it'll be interesting to see what happens with this.

He no longer has a support team Big D as he no longer has a license to box, the trainer who's gym it was should have his license revoked and Blackwell has done himself no favours by being stupid as you say.

Anyone involved, gym owner, Blackwell as a trainer, the other boxer should all have their licences revoked.

Apparently Lockett had mentioned to him that the best way to stay in the game would be to get his training qualifications, it boggles the mind that he thought this would go anyway other than badly.

Edit: Apparently he already has his training license.

Well I watched the Billy Joe Saunders fight on Saturday and he was lucky to win, he looked overweight and sluggish. It seems he has a fondness for the poes between fights, I hope he can keep this in check as he is a very good fighter when properly conditioned.

He is hoping for a Canelo or Golovkin fight in the coming year, on Saturday nights showing he would be beaten easily by either, I think he could maybe give Canelo a run for his money if he was in proper condition.

Yeah he was poor. He has Ricky Hattonesque weight control issues out with camp but doesn't have the level of Hattons skills to counteract that at the level below real elite.

For some reason Sky have adopted Bellow and he was also ranting on 5Live last night about Hayes impending doom . He loves a platform and he seems to be getting several , courtesy of the media .

Cant see him lasting long agin Haye . Hayes always been a puncher with lots of power early on . The weight difference is going to be interesting by the time of the fight .

Well done to AJ , sell out , and in his own words he ' done a job ' on Molina . Set up a title fight with Klits that will no doubt take care of him financially for the rest of his days .

Whites result agin Chisoro will set him up for pay days too .

I don't think there'll be a big weight difference. Will be interesting to see how Bellew puts the weight on though. Brook style or fat heavyweight style. I suspect HW style.

Yafai did what needed to be done.
Rugby Rebels favourite son Smith looked bored IMO before a vicious KO. Needs a step up.
Whyte v Chisora was close. Entertaining if scrappy fight. Both showed decent chins to be fair.
AJ looked controlled. He's been slagged off for fighting Molina but didn't really have a lot of options and Molina has fought Wilder etc.

I think the AJ/Wlad fight will end in one of them being KO'd I really do.

I didn't think Whyte had won that fight
Smith is fighting the winner of De Gale and Jack next so there will be a world title at stake, he did look ponderous against Blackledge but as soon as he stepped up a gear it was game over.
AJ did what was expected of him, I can't see Klitschko beating him after being out of the ring for 18 months.
Yafai was very good, Conception just couldn't land anything decent.

Regarding Bellew v Haye, I don't see that fight going past 3 rounds.

I know what you mean about SKY adopting Bellew, they continually go on about what a nice guy he is out of the ring when all the evidence points to him being just as much of a d1ck.

Maybe they docked him a couple of rounds for doing that skullfukking motion towards Whyte.

Chisora hasn't done himself any favours , hard to like a guy with the brains of a rocking horse .

Just listened to the bbc podcast. Bellew saying he'd be up for the Wlad/AJ winner after ko'ing Haye. The lad doesn't lack confidence/bravado.

Cant blame Bellew for touting for his best ever payday . Ironically if the guy was 40 lbs ever he'd be on mega bucks , I really cant see himlasting long agin Haye . I still think he best UK fight that never happened was Haye v Fury .

The thing with Haye is that it's questionable how many top heavyweights he has fought and beat. Valuev wasn't a good boxer and Ruiz was way past it. Chisora is a euro/commonwealth level fighter

He should have too much for Bellew but he doesn't have that good a resume at heavyweight. Of course, Bellew isn't a heavyweight and doesn't have that impressive a resume either.

Bellew hasn't got a hope in hell imo, Bellew's delusion knows no bounds.

Sky sports getting all excited about Kell Brook v Amir Khan in the new year . Venue possibly Sheffield .

Think Khan has to go for it . His big money days in the US are surely over .

In fairness , its a match up I'd look forward to .

Only one winner tho, one of the boxers has punch resistance.

Just caught up on the AJ v Molina ' fight ' . Its incredible what heavies and the fans endure . Molina was certainly on a damage limitation mission and offered no worthwhile resistance . That , believe it or not was a World Title fight . I presume the crowd getting excited over the stoppage was because they wouldn't have witness any more of the fiasco .

Fking heavies !! :geek:
