Nah mate, it was one game. It doesn't show a pattern in our play. Owen was fantastic, mate, I don't know what game you're watching.

Totally agree. Didn’t even look like creating anything and gave away so much territory with dumb penalty after dumb penalty.

30+? France would put 100 on us, ffs.

Wow. Wasn't expecting that. I suppose, there's a bright side...to be that crap and actually been in with a shot of snatching it at the end was impressive.

England fans on Facebook commenting as if that was an amazing Scottish performance. It must be nice to see things that way.

Wrong team, wrong tactics, wrong head coach. What else is there left to say? This defeat has been coming for ages.

Slade doesn't look like an international level centre at the minute. Lawrence maybe should have another go but he's unlikely to look his best whilst Farrell is at 10 which is an awful Catch 22 situation.

Imagination of we could have had Ford/Redpath/Lawrence...

Farrell looks about ready to weep in the post game interview. Yet again he brought nothing to the table, either in play making or leadership.
Congrats to a gritty Scotland team.

Notice SCW says England has a good team but choose to diplomatically say nothing about coaching staff :)

Scotland did play well imo - for example their back row was man for man better than ours (sorry Curry and Billy fans they aren’t as quite as good as some of you would have it)

I'd say man for man Scotland players were better. I don't think either team played test-level rugby. It's one thing to lose a great match...

That’s the Grand Slam gone. Shaun Edwards will be rubbing his hands with glee playing at Twickenham in a few weeks.

Its been coming for over a year during which England havent put together anything like a compelling 80 minute performance. The last time we did that was in the WC semi final against NZ. We've been maddeningly inconsistent since then, when we could put together a brilliant 20 minutes which was enough to get us through and then go into our shell to muddle through.
Today was comfortably the worst we have played under Jones. We were comically bad at times. I mean we really were miles off what an international side should be able to produce. Not one player played to the required standard, some were so far off the pace it was embarrassing. Even our much vaunted "finishers" did nothing. Sorry Dan Robson, you were even less effective than Youngs.
We didnt set up one try scoring position, didnt make one line break, didnt discomfort the Scottish defence once during the game, didnt control or have the better of any aspect of play.
Jones has a tough week ahead. This defeat will hurt. More so, the abject nature of our performance should provoke some sort of backlash.

5P, I just don't think Jones knows how to turn it round. He's reached this nadir before in his career but has he ever got back on track? I have been watching England for over 50 years and this is the worst performance level ever RELATIVE TO THE PLAYING RESOURCES.

11 points from 15 penalties. I'll concede that they managed Russell's binning well and shut us out of their half effectively, but they still don't know how to score.

That's doing a disservice to Scotland. They dominated the tactical kicking game. Their defence was well drilled. They took us to pieces at the breakdown with their two opensides. They dominated territory and possession. Their scrum worked, their lineout worked. They only really made errors in our 22. Had they been composed and clinical in our 22 then the game would have been over by half time.

Scotland looked like a side used to being on the back foot, they went for the miracle shot a little too often instead of just trusting themselves to work their way over. Start trusting their systems and having the confidence to work their way over the try line from inside the 22 and I'd say they could take Wales and Ireland as well. They'll need another gear to get past that French team.

England were dire but that was because Scotland applied pressure and we folded under it.

I agree with everything you said, apart form the bolded section re. the breakdown. I recall two Scottish turnovers - one from Redpath and one at the end from Watson. Mostly, when we did have the ball, our ruck work was pretty good. It was what we did with the ball when we had it that was problem.
