Yeah Conan, Doris and that big Munster bastard aren’t going to be an easy group to push past. Could be a great experience for him though, and another canny move from MacFarland if true.

If I was picking the carcass the 3 players I’d be charging in to get are Willis, Atkinson and Willis. Tom should be Billy V’s successor, really hope Eng don’t lose him.

Players have to look after their own interest but i'd be hopping mad if we lose Tom Willis to Ireland. His brother and Barbeary have been seen at Bristol apparently.
Biyi Alo looks like he's going to Racing.

I probably don’t rate Tom Willis quite as highly as some of you, but he’d definitely be a loss to English rugby.

Not heard anything about Ted Hill recently. I know he signed a short term deal at Bath, but then there was talk that he was looking elsewhere. He’s a player all clubs should be bending over backwards for.

Yep, have to remember that (mind I didn't get it tbh) Barbeary was starting at 8 ahead of him. Speaking of which, only just spotted Barbeary is now 22- has he got the right conditioning in place, and has he found his position where he can fulfil that potential (plus a club :()

Great club level all rounder, he and Murley will combine well on the wings. Score a lot of tries.

I thought we'd go for a fullback before a winger to be honest. Maybe David will get a proper run at 15. No idea when Lynagh is back I understood his preferred position is 15 too.

Dan Thomas gets a two week loan to Scarlets as they're short and Bristol don't have a game.

A cynic might posit that this is something which could lead to a longer term loan, allowing the cap space to bring JWillis in. Thankfully, none of us here are cynics.

Marchant has been playing wing but Northmore went off injured Vs Tigers and odds are still fairly good if Marchant being recalled by Eddie.

So we need a centre as well...

I wish we'd kept hold of Jones. We've got more wing options that I'd trust to use.

I suppose we could just stick Anyanwu at 13 outside Esterhuizen if it comes to it. Defending there is the same.

Anyway, not meaning to turn this in to a Quins thread. Bassett is a handy prem player. Strong, fast, good finisher, seems to have a good injury record but no real concern of him being away for internationals.

The thought never crossed my mind... although Dan hasn't played enough games yet for his salary to count in the cap this season. Also, some sports journo (not sure who it was) that Jack Willis was talking with Bristol but "...this deal is proving difficult due to issues Bristol has with squeezing the 2019/2020 Premiership player of the season inside their salary cap..."

Mind, none of the available 15s really match your style (except for Crossdale, but you don't need another injury case). Bassett's clearly the pick of the back three players on offer and you can shuffle around to cover 15 and get your best players on the pitch.

Not really a like-for-like for Green though. Plus, I'm still hopeful there's something to the rumours that Leicester are after him. Although that could be off the table now CAtkinson is available... gods, this must be such a shitty situation for the poor sods in the middle. I'd imagine there are a few Wuss players who have had offers they were considering evaporate upon the Wasps players entering the market.

Wouldn't be surprised if Quins went for Umaga though. Plays 10, 12, 15, loves an open game - seems just what they need.

Oh god. Not sure about that one. We're chaotic enough at the moment I can't imagine what it would be like bringing Umaga in to the mix.

I like Shillcock too. I guess it depends if we want a different sort of option.

Odogwu is apparently looking at Treviso and playing for Italy.

Would make a lot of sense and I don't begrudge him switching allegiances - I don't see him ever gaining the consistency and all-round game needed to make a real impression on the England side.

Don't be throwing bait out like that, you know full well defending at 13 is very different to defending at 12.

If you signed a Shillcock or similar at 15 it's a bit of a slap in the face of Nick David. He's bided his time and probably deserves the chance now. Give him some experienced Prem level wings to work with and he should be fine.

There's some centres kicking around if you need one of them.

I’m quite happy giving David a run, to be clear, but I don’t know how long Greene/Lynagh are out so thought we may have looked for a wing/fullback. I quite liked Allan in his cameo there, to be fair.

Kyle Sinckler extends at Bristol, one more year so with us for the 23/24 season now. Very happy with that as the scrum is so much better with him in.

He's also just getting back to full fitness. Apparently he's been almost unable to walk after training/playing the past 6 months or so because of back problems.

Also, just found out that the Dan Thomas move might be more a 50:50 decision. He still lives fairly close to Llenelli, he works on the family farm in area, just married, and plans to live/work in the area after rugby. So it could a move for him to see if he can get a deal there with his future plans in mind. Plus would raise his chances of a Wales cap (straight into the side full of Welsh players). Not as brutal as it seems at first glance.
