Happy enough with that team though the cemtre cover seems a bit of a risk.

Didn't see the White resting coming but the explanation makes sense.

Glad Fagerson is back in. Wasn't great first two games but he is one of our best players and could give a real energy boost.

The 6/2 split just isn't as attractive when it is two pure back rowers on the bench. It doesn't offer any flexibility and both Christie and Darge have the potential to dominate the game.

Blinding first 12 minutes from us. Need to keep it up tho.

Really like what we're seeing from Scotland today, so far. Implementing our game plan with intensity and concentration. Few mistakes, sure, but everyone looks like they're dancing to the same tune.

Having said all that, couple of forced passes go astray and we've let Italy right back in.

We’re struggling with Gardener’s interpretation at the breakdown. We need to tighten up there.

Well, if that first 3 mins isn't this Scotland squad in a nutshell. Try chalked off for a stupid penalty and they go all the way down field and score.

And now we're penalising ourselves out of the game

Unfuckingbelievable. Only Scotland could have a try disallowed then concede a try. Discipline has gone to shit.

What is it with Scotland and second halfs?

I've actually lost count of how many times we've gifted them possession by trying to force a pass or an offload and knocking on or throwing it to no one. Infuriating.

Stupid penalties killing us.

Fair credit to Italy they have played well.

And the game ends with a knock on from a needlessly forced pass. Says. It. All.

How long did it take the TMO to call in the knock on. Was he off getting a beer?

Fair play to Italy. My piss is boiling at that second half performance. Our discipline was shocking.

Awful. The three tries conceded were terrible ones to lose.

A kick from 1st/2nd phase. Plan clearly for Kinghorn to be wide so who was sweeping?

Another kick with no one home.

A bust where Steyn needlessly turns his shoulders in when there was no need giving their 8 the freedom of Rome.

Townsend needs to take some blame too. 6/2 split and leave 3 forwards on the bench until the 69th minute?

Yup changes should've been made much earlier.

Barring something outrageous next time out, we're going to finish on 2 wins, when we could/should be on 4. That's on GT as well as the players.

Gutted by that.

It looked like they would struggle to deal with our attack but we had no fluency. Runners not quite where ball carriers expected and passes not quite where runners wanted. Sloppy all round. I think that showed even when we were in the lead - our first try was pretty lucky.

In defence, they seemed to make ground far too easily. Don't know if that is just down to missing Tuipolotu or good play from them, but meant they looked dangerous all day even when they weren't doing anything that complex.

First try from them seemed quite clever. Noticed Steyn joining the front of the lineout at the last second. I don't know if they engineered that knowing he was meant to be the sweeper.

Agree re subs. Ritchie looked good when he came on, but too late.

Weirdly, while our second halfs haven't been very good, we are showing a lot of composure in the last five minutes of games. Didn't help us but against Wales, France and Italy we have been in tricky situations with five minutes to go and taken control. Held the ball for five minutes against Wales and held up over the line, scored against France but not given, scored one today and then made 40 metres through phase after phase before eventually coughing up the ball.

They keep talking about learning lessons but the Wales, France and Italy games have been virtually identical where we have allowed the opponents a route back into the game. As Cameo said, we were very sloppy. Our discipline goes to shit as soon as there's any pressure on us. I feel our disallowed try was the turning point in the game - dumb by Schoeman but every team does it. We could end up 5th at this rate.

Great game to watch with both sides trying to play attacking rugby. Fair play to Italy for stepping up to the mark. Great to see little Capuozzo handling the massive VDM on a few occasions.
Huw Jones comfortably looking the best 13 in the 6N.
Looking forward to a good contest in Dublin next week.

We were shite.
