To be fair, he's ignored it in terms of not reading it, or knowing anything about it before Fox News told him about it.Digby wrote:Why of why wouldn't Trump just ignore the book? He could hardly have done more to promote it. Still if he could ignore the book he wouldn't be Trump.

I don't understand how the book launch wasn't blocked?
Is it because there's a whiff of fake news about some of the claims and it will be easy to disprove them, and thus further Trump's crusade on his version of 'news'?
Odd strategy if that is the case as some people believe anything they read or see online.

The same reason why celebrities and others challenge the release of books, newspaper articles etc which could be potentially embarrassing, damaging and/or libellous.Digby wrote:Why would the book launch have been blocked?WaspInWales wrote:I don't understand how the book launch wasn't blocked?

I thought Trump's lawyers made an attempt to get the book blocked. Seems a bit weird that bringing the date forward bypasses any legal challenge...unless the challenge failed?
Just read that cease and desist letters were sent by Trump's lawyers which isn't the same as an order from a judge, so it looks like it is just Trump trying to threaten and intimidate, which seems to be his method of operation.

Re: Trump
Harder to do in the USA than many places, but he could work on making America great again by curtailing the right to free speech I suppose. There's also a problem that if he pushed to hold up publication he could be deposed to given answers under oath as to what events aren't true, which even his idiot lawyers might work out wouldn't end well.WaspInWales wrote:The same reason why celebrities and others challenge the release of books, newspaper articles etc which could be potentially embarrassing, damaging and/or libellous.Digby wrote:Why would the book launch have been blocked?WaspInWales wrote:I don't understand how the book launch wasn't blocked?

Let's not over analyse this chaps. He is as thick as mince as hasn't a clue what he is doing. I would like to know who is pulling his strings and have the media get at those people now. All this financial and environmental deregulation stuff is bad news for everyone but whoever the puppet masters are. These are the bastards that need a boot to the bollocks now. Trump is just full of shit.

I thought we knew that? The Koch brothers control Pence, and Pence runs the White House except Trump's Twitter account.morepork wrote:Let's not over analyse this chaps. Personal experience?morepork wrote:Pence has that squinty slow release opium suppository expression of the truly sexually deviant.
In short, that is a man that enjoys being pegged.
It is usually futile to try to talk facts and analysis to people who are enjoying a sense of moral superiority in their ignorance.

It came close for MP, but thankfully Pence had his wife in the room with them just in case temptation overrode any moral standards he might claim to haveCoco wrote:Personal experience?morepork wrote:Pence has that squinty slow release opium suppository expression of the truly sexually deviant.

I may invest a few quid for a kindle edition, the extracts look like a very rare political book, one which is genuinely interesting if also terrifying.cashead wrote:Speaking of which, Wolff's book is now being published tomorrow. It's already a best seller.

Re: Trump
Far more difficult to do that in the Us if you are a figure in the public view. I suppose they could try to prove libel but that would put the evidential require, ent on trump to prove the book was largely false or co gained outrageous lies. I suspect he knows he can’t do that. Taking legal action is pretty normal for trump, it’s probably a hangover from his business days where he kept many lawyers busy.WaspInWales wrote:The same reason why celebrities and others challenge the release of books, newspaper articles etc which could be potentially embarrassing, damaging and/or libellous.Digby wrote:Why would the book launch have been blocked?WaspInWales wrote:I don't understand how the book launch wasn't blocked?

For once I can agree with Trump when he says "You wouldn't have things like that happen where you can say whatever comes to your head" though sadly his wider quote is an attack on free speech, or at least people saying mean things about him

Re: Trump
So... He's a stable genius because he won the presidency at the first time of asking (just like Obama, Clinton, BushII etc)
Such a genius in fact, that he completely forgot his previous run for president in 2000
