But bottom line is we were lucky, Laidlaw and Russell both should be feeling almighty relieved.

Completely agree Donny. Ireland steamrollered us in the second half. We're quite lucky they didn't put 6 or 7 tries past us. Barclay, Maitland, Seymour and possibly others saved what would be sure tries any other day of the week.

Almost ended with Scotland losing as for a while it seemed no one on the Scotland team wanted the ball, even if very much down to being knackered. But come the last Scotland sniffed a chance and were still in contention with Ireland blowing multiple scoring chances.

A really good opening game.

Fxxxing fantastic. Downed a very good Irish side. We were brill in the first half, not so good for most of the second half but had still had the where-with-all to win the match. To beat Ireland is excellent.

Huge numbers for the forwards.

For all the pre match concern over the front row I thought all 5 players used did very well.

Grays won the 2nd rows battle.

Are any looseheads due back from injury during the 6N?

Think J Welsh has to be on the bench at the very least to provide some more reliable & experienced backup.

Nice find. Not surprised at the missed tackle stats for Russell, Dunbar and Jones. The Irish were rampaging up the middle all day long, breaking through at will. Should our loosies have protected them better?

Did anyone else notice Henderson slipping his bind in the scrum before his try..?. Initially I thought he was trying to use his hand to steer the ball to the backfoot but then I noticed the ball had already passed him. Be interesting to see if Ross Ford has a blackeye tomorrow.

Not sure. They are usually solid in defence so I'm happy enough to call it a 1 off.

I do think the missed tackles stifled any momentum and lost field position because of it.

There are some real miserable-git comments. "Yea, Ireland were better, we were lucky, we should give them our four points because they SO MUCH deserved them more than we did, we should drop half the team......." Bugger that. We just beat perhaps the best team in Europe. If I wasn't on kid-minding duty tonight I would be getting hammered on happiness tonight.

Watching Maitland's interview and they've played back his try saving tackle on Kearney, dragging him into touch.

Playing back in slow-mo... I can see the linesman squatting down watching everything with a clear line of sight. Does he have a stroke or something? Doesn't raise the flag once and play goes on meaning it goes to the TMO. We got the correct decision in the end so it's no bother but that's basic stuff.

Lots of positives out of the game and lots to work on so room for improvement . Ideal really

He was on the park and wearing a jersey, but I wouldn't go so far as to say he played.

Picamoles looks done. It's not been that high intensity either.

England's firepower up front & the ability to boot 3 points anywhere in the half is quite concerning.

France are surprisingly uncordinated with the ball in hand. Lot's of big dudes, not much practicing.

I was surprised that all the 2nd rows were fairly anonymous. Good tackle count from J.Gray but that was about all.
