I'm going to go out on a limb and predict it'd be the fastest minute by minute ever to review
Tremendous workrate is my guess, normally his work off the ball puts others to shame and this game is likely no transgression. Early in the 2nd half with Scotland on attack on our line I clocked him covering side to side, and that's a norm for himDanno wrote:What did Farrell do, at all, other than miss a penalty? I'm including captaining the side in my rhetorical question here.
I thought his kicking from hand seemed to be among the better of those on show today. Also must have been pretty active in a defence that was pretty dominant. Still, it'd've been nice if anyone had had a bit more of a crack at it.Digby wrote:Tremendous workrate is my guess, normally his work off the ball puts others to shame and this game is likely no transgression. He went missing ball in hand bar kicking the ball way when it was a terrible call, and his chat to the ref is bloody awful. But he has his positives.Mr Mwenda wrote:I thought his kicking from hand seemed to be among the better of those on show today. Also must have been pretty active in a defence that was pretty dominant. It was one of his better games- put in two nice grubbers and didn’t have to pass. His decisions to take two long range shots (long given the conditions) were stupid though, they both cost a lot of territory. The conditions suited his strengths.Digby wrote:Tremendous workrate is my guess, normally his work off the ball puts others to shame and this game is likely no transgression. Underhill carried loads v France. Itoje isn’t a very good carrier, or rather it’s not the strong part of his game.jngf wrote:Underhill on the rare chance he got looked quite a powerful carrier from the set piece and England need to use him much more as a carrying threat against Ireland . Also think our locks need to step up as carriers in that game. Itoje should really start to carry more again and partially offset the void left by Manu and Billy.
Enjoyed the sausages part, but it was pretty crass frankly. Combined with Eddies nonsense, it smacked of ‘everyone hates us, and we don’t care’ which has a limited shelf life as a motivator.Danno wrote:I enjoyed it. Shot from the hip and anyone that watched it won't have an issue.
It was Genge being himself. Bloody brilliant! A robot he ain’t! Becoming a bloody good player too.Banquo wrote:Enjoyed the sausages part, but it was pretty crass frankly. I did not think Ford was any worse than most of his teammates. Overall, I could not believe that players of international calibre could not adapt better to the conditions, especiallly re. kicking from hand. This was a day for kicking low and hard and for relatively short range (or not kicking at all.) Good schoolboy players can figure that out without a coach having to tell them so. But apparently, experienced England/Scotland internationals can not. It was a shambles of a game that could have gone either way, but it did show that players on both sides are not capable of adapting to anything outside the coach's pre-imposed game plan. Or are not allowed to for fear of being dropped.p/d wrote:I thought Ford was awful. How he stayed on for the full 80 yet gets yanked off when playing well is a mystery.
Full marks to May, the only back happy not to kick away possession
Up front back row were on the money. Mako really good first 20 and thank god Genge came on to put some spunk in the pencil.
Each to their both funny and naive at the same time.Epaminondas Pules wrote:It was Genge being himself. Bloody brilliant! A robot he ain’t! Complaining that the press criticise you when you lose for one. Calling the pundits sausages is hardly likely to help that situation, although it made me laugh.Epaminondas Pules wrote:Naive in what way?Banquo wrote:Each to their both funny and naive at the same time.Epaminondas Pules wrote:

That just how Genge is. The sausage comment is a common one for him and to be fair he’s right. And made I giggle tooBanquo wrote:Complaining that the press criticise you when you lose for one. Not judging especially, it’s just naive, and even if he doesn’t like it, playing the press is part of the job. Hopefully they won’t turn on him as it’s good copy.Epaminondas Pules wrote:That just how Genge is. The sausage comment is a common one for him and to be fair he’s right. I'd like to think in an age where the Department for Health and Social Care have refused to talk to the media about Coronavirus, or the Government have refused to talk to the BBC it'd be given scant coverage. But it's the sort of thing which will be looked at if/when England lose and Genge contributes to that loss. But I don't imagine Genge is going to back downBanquo wrote:Not judging especially, it’s just naive, and even if he doesn’t like it, playing the press is part of the job. That said, the gobbledygook coming out of Wilkinson yesterday needs a bit of mockery. It’s like a walking self help book.
