Will there be any paying spectators at Murrayfield on Sunday?

Re: Autumn Squad
That's a pretty stodgy looking backline with not a lot of subtlety, not long after we were worried about a lack of pragmatism. Cant we ever just get a nice balance?
I am looking forward to the back row battle though. This is a big test of whether they're as good as we hope they are.

I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt there are a lot of combinations out injured. Given we have no choice but to play WFD it's probably the best group of backs you could surround him with.switchskier wrote:That's a pretty stodgy looking backline with not a lot of subtlety, not long after we were worried about a lack of pragmatism. Re: Autumn Squad
I think everyone has covered it really. A slightly mixed bag, but pretty good considering injuries. It really would be nice to see some sort of cohesion in the backs but I think it's going to be a long process.
Great to have Ritchie and Brown back, let's hope we're 100% on both of those head injuries though. Sutherland is a loss but Kebble vs Bamba will be intriguing, and I really like the aggression Bhatti has brought from the bench in his previous appearances.

I really do wish it was Jones rather than Taylor but other than that seems reasonable. What is Hutchison's injury?
I also can't decide between Brown and McInaly. McInaly always looks more solid throwing wise to me.

I think this is quite a big game for the players, if Richie and co can wind the French up, get some early momentum It could be a great game.
Also if we keep them to one tie that would be awesome.

Nicked from the scottish rugby blog. We're much the more experienced team. Trouble is it's mostly experience at losing.

Re: Autumn Squad
I've just read that we're on a run of four successive defeats at Murrayfield and our last win was in 2014.
A win is long overdue and I fancy our chances to win narrowly by 7-10 points.

France by 14 I reckon, if you keep 15 on the field. If you get ahead early I don't think we've got the ability to put points up quickly.francoisfou wrote:I've just read that we're on a run of four successive defeats at Murrayfield and our last win was in 2014.

Pre match focus on Ali Price.... Eeeesh. I really want him to prove me wrong today. In fairness, he does seem to have stepped up the last couple of games in his maturity and decision making but needs to progress that again today

It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

The more I think about this the more I think we're getting a hiding today.

Only half listening but I think the Swedish commentary team referred to Weir's distinctive hairstyle.

That first maul defence and Weir trying to tackle Chat there does not bode well. Anyway, allez les blancs.

Seen a few examples of attempted choke tackles where defenders appear to be holding attacker up but ref calls tackle and they have to release... What's the rule on that? When does a tackle become a maul where you can hold on and when does it become a tackle when you have to let go?

I may not mind losing after seeing someone take a drop goal without the penalty already called
