The Bridge back tomorrow at 9pm on BBC2

If its anywhere near as good as the earlier series we're in for a treat.

Have heard it's supposed to be good if not quite as exceptional as season 3

I think Atlanta is meant to be on BBC soon. Certainly not for everybody but it’s an incredible look at certain aspects of black life in America in a fairly digestible format. I think it’s likely some will absolutely love it, as I do, but may be a bit redundant to many.

It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I watched a bit last night.....it looked interesting. To my absolute shame I got bored because it wasn't 'Blackish' and there were no snappy one liners with cultural references I could understand.

In fairness it was episode 5/6 and I had no idea what was happening.

If you want character acting see Rectify.

Rectify is fucking fantastic though. So there’s something.[/quote]

I can't find this on Amazon or Netflix, is it on somewhere else please? Ta

It was originally on AMC I think, it's been on Netflix but has since gone (probably still on the American Netflix which has much more stuff but you'll need a VPN for that https://www.mirror.co.uk/tech/how-you-c ... n-11872345), it's currently being played on AMC in the UK according to the schedules, if you have BT Sport then AMC is free afaik.

Apparently Tunnelbear is a good free VPN.

According to the author’s wik8 page, China Miéville, it is a stand alone novel.
That's disappointing.
I read it while watching it... well, not totally simultaneously like, but over the same three weeks ;) ... quite original in concept, even if the story was mostly a murder mystery. I think the changes they made for TV worked well, particularly the lost wife.

It started off quite well I thought - a little exposition heavy, but then, it needed to be. But the last 3-ish episodes just descended rapidly IMO, looking like it was more interested in fight scenes and justifying / setting up a second season; rather than finishing off the story it had been telling.
Yeah, the book was like that. Not a bad read though, a mix of SF and crime fiction.

Hmm... probably not, although that depends on how much you read. Probably more enjoyable to read something else by the same authors. Mieville is, I would say, the "better" writer but Morgan an easier read.

Got better as the series progressed. Expected something really bad happening in the final episode but it was sort of a happy ending! Very high class tv drama.

I saw an episode of Ironside a couple of days ago when he's trapped in a haunted house.
Haven't seen this since I was 8\9 years old and it scared the daylights out of me back then. Still pretty scary.

Servelan is dead.
Where is p/d...?. the eulogies were quite lovely. He'd be pleased.

'Dirty' isn't always the appropriate adjective for a eulogy.....but errrrr..
She was quality dirty. For the early 80's, she was red hot.

Doctor Who is back on, new Doctor, new companions, new producer.

It's ok. They haven't screwed it up but it's nothing special either, so far. We shall see how it goes, these things can take time to bed in.

Better than anything I saw of Capaldi's run (not the actor's fault - Moffett overstayed his welcome); may have been trying a little too hard to introduce some diversity; but given the show's history, I don't have any problem with that.
Not exactly a classic, but we'll see - enough to get me watching again next week; whereas I gave up on Capaldi's run about half way through his first season - Ali still watched though, so I was often in the same room as the show, which didn't even try to engage me again.

It was pretty good and I liked Whitaker's Doctor almost immediately, but a bit of an average story. Plus, it's a little bit foreboding that the best the writers could come up with to motivate the two male companions was fridging their wife/nan. Lazy characterisation and poor writing all round.
