Failing to roll away from the tackle a metre out. I presume Racing were on a warning. Did look like was held in a bit but instead of fighting to get out and show the ref he seemed to be fighting the guy holding him in.

He was very highly rated at age groups, so it's entirely possible he's training the house down and has earned his place. Can't imagine Lorenzetti or any of his teammates would be giving him a free pass if it was just nepotism.

A high tackle is far more Farrell. I was only going on a quick watch of the highlights so must have missed that. He definitely gave away an advantage for not rolling away close to the line so I assumed it was that.

Ah, fair enough - misread you. Can't imagine he's on more than three pennies and a button for his contract mind, so probably deemed a worthwhile gamble by the bigwigs.

To be fair the issue with Lancaster Jnr was that he wasn't particularly dynamic as a flyhalf. If you're going down the Farrell model at 10, does that really matter?

Burt's surely got to be on thin ice. He's been given big budgets, latitude to sign stars (and others), and finishing 6th last season would not have made Lorenzetti happy. Starting this season with 2 losses from 3 won't be inspiring confidence that he's the man to turn it all around.

With Felix Jones coming out of work as well, if you're a big spending owner you must be thinking maybe it's time to move out Lancaster who's not turning things round and gambling on one of the best coaches at international level and seeing if they can step up into the top job.

I think Lancaster has a long term contract so I'd imagine that came with a fairly hefty notice period so he might be expensive to move on.

After three matches, Racing are languishing in 11th place with 5 points (a home bp win against Clermont) and they have a tough match at home against La Rochelle next Saturday.
Stuart Lancaster must be feeling nervous.

Owen Farrell wasn't taking kicks at goal, scrum half Nolann le Garrec (who'll join La Rochelle next season) scored all his team's points with a converted try and 3 penalties.

This evening's closing fixture of round 4 sees Toulouse at home to Bordeaux/Bègles, a repeat of last season's final.
Jonny Gray starts at 5 for B/B, Blair Kinghorn at 14 for Toulouse and a well-earned rest for Jack Willis (who would undoubtedly have preferred to play!)

Edit: Just read that Jack Willis wasn't available for selection because of a thigh injury, but don't know how serious.

Is Farrell not kicking because of injury or because they just quickly realised he isn’t actually a very good goalkicker?

If it’s the second one then fair play. Not much else going for Racing at the moment but at least they would have nailed that.
