It would die a quiet death, regardless of the intentions of protagonists if fucking social media did not constantly feed it oxygen. Facebook and twitter are responsible for some serious cognitive decline coming our way now and it will only get worse. There are millions of people out there that get their knowledge direct from social media. It is not a case of filtering but of validity. We are truly fucked and we have the cunts in power we deserve. What a waste of time it is to attempt dialogue with people that are fueled by twitter rage and Facebook facts. There should be a clear demarcation for serves for the purposes of public service and those for private use/abuse.
FUCK social media.
Which is my #1 reason for media regulation change in the current climate. Social Media needs to be treated like a media and not like a technology provider. If it were, they'd need to regulate and they'd lose a huge quantity of their profits. And we all know the US will not take a lead on this, so it's up to us...
However, our stupid fuckwits of a government decided now was a good time to try and leave the fucking EU. Way to go. Now we're distracted and the EU is distracted and no-one is doing anything about the rise of dangerous nationalism across the world. No-one is doing anything about government corruption (except Rudy Guiliani, who is sticking up for the most corrupt politician in the world right now (in Romania, what the feck does he have to do with Romania!) and no-one is doing anything about an unchecked and rampant media.

I just saw that Gulliani thing.....ridiculous. He has an international "consulting" firm, apparently. Fucking hell.
In other interfering septic news, Steve Bannon is attempting to set up an organisation to support populist politics in Europe. I mean, the alt right is a great little cottage industry in conspiracy consultancy isn't it?

It absolutely is a grift.

You should see this guy attempting to cash in on hurricane Florence. Apparently, “They haven't seen anything like what's coming at us in 25, 30 years, maybe ever. It's tremendously big and tremendously wet. Tremendous amounts of water,".
You reckon you could get him over there and put him on countdown?

Really don't know why that is permitted.

A good mate was telling me that: 'Christians against Dinosaurs' and 'Mothers Against Death Sports', are entirely fictional organisations.

Bannons politics are repulsive, but actually so too are those of other extremists who pose as legitimate politicians. Banning free speech is a slippery slope.

There's free speech and there is profiting off "consulting" that results in conflict and arms sales. See: Tony Motherfucking Blair.

What is the best way to prepare the people for Hurricane Florence?
Yes, that's right. Attack the official figures of the death toll from Hurricane Maria that practically pulverised Puerto Rico. At the same time retweet stuff that makes you look like a legend.
It's amazing that Trump is unable to connect the lack of resources in the form of medical care, electricity, transport etc to mortality rates.
Words fail me.

This is not free speech, this is freedom to spread propaganda by a foreign national.

Ah, yes, but did you hear that the Puerto Rican officials are so corrupt they just embezzled what they could and ignored incoming aid in order to make Trump look bad? Sounds feasible, right?

I fail to see why that's necessarily a problem, the propaganda part that is, that he's foreign is to me at least irrelevant
If there are some specific problems where some of what he says crosses a line then fair enough that can be looked at , but whilst a good many of us likely find him odious the general complaint that propaganda can't be allowed under free speech is nonsensical

The line is crossed when you start charging by the hour for "consulting" based on knowledge of the inner workings of foreign policy. It looks official on the outside, but it's full of racist shit on the inside. No coincidence he has been courting the most obviously xenophobic European politicians available. If Bannon were not white, his efforts would be classified as inciting hatred. What manner of fuckhead would for a nano second even consider courting the opinions of that KKK mother fucker?

If he crosses the line of inciting violence then that should be looked at, else the man's an utter arse but he should be allowed to speak and even paid

Agreed, Europe has way, WAY stricter laws on hate speech, and gives no mitigation for being home-grown. It's highly likely that he'll step out of line (or convince someone else to), and we can nail him then, if he doesnt, then he doesn't, and has the same rights to say hateful crap as everyone else.

Yep. We are well and truly in pissing contest territory. Sadly, the contest involves pissing into the tent. A tent we are all sat in.

Maybe you'd like to use your science background to set out the wetness curve of water rather than mock

You don’t need to be a scientist to do that. Off the top of my head it goes something like this:
Moist
Damp
Urine soaked Russian hotel mattress
Wet
Wetter
Stable wet
Bigly wet
As wet as a freshly grabbed pussy

Labelling water moist or damp seems akin to fake news
