You know, I genuinely don't know how I feel about that. On the one hand, anyone but Badenoch and Braverman, because they are literally Satan. But on the other, Boris's brand of bluster and whimsy might be strong enough that he could recover this for the Conservatives - lord knows he's got some kind of charisma that appeals to voters for some reason.

I'd settle for Mordaunt. Probably the least actively evil, competent enough not to flush the whole country away, not competent enough to realistically resurrect Conservative election hopes.

I want Boris back purely for the absurdity of it. It would be life imitating satire at its finest.

What a total shit show. Boris managed covid parties lasting longer than Truss's tenure.

We need a General Election ASAP, get shot of the Tories, anyone would be better

100 vote threshold! Why not go the whole hog and make it FPTP!

This would make Sunak and Mordaunt look the likely winners but with Tory MPs who knows? One of Braverman and Badenoch will have to stand aside otherwise they'll both go out (so hopefully they'll both stand). But if Ben Wallace gets involved who knows what'll happen. Maybe no one would get 100.

If that were replicated in an election, the Conservatives would keep just 15 seats, none of which would be held by any of Boris, Mordaunt, Sunak, Badenoch, Bravermann, or Wallace (or Truss for that matter, although she would have the distinction of losing to the Lib Dems). Sadly, Christopher Chope would remain safe.

I have been wondering how on earth they were planning on doing electronic voting even remotely securely in just over a week. Still, not like it's an important decision or anything, is it?

My thinking is: if the decision goes to the members we can reasonably assume they'll choose the worse of the two. Therefore voter fraud literally can't do us any harm.

This must be so bittersweet for the Lib Dems - Tories going down in flames yet still more popular than them.

RiSu 86, BoJo 63, PeMo 23 latest backer-stats.
Mordaunt well short of the threshold atm based on this -
Not sure if Sunak will attract votes in Red-wall territories if in place.
It would top it all if Boris returned only to have to resign soon after
following an on-going investigation, or if a truck load of mp's changed parties or simply resigned in protest.

I understand that at least 14 have said they will resign if he rebecomes leader.

So Boris' supporters are claiming that he has reached the 100 mark, but BBC is suggesting a lower tally based on those MPs who have publicly backed one of the 3 contenders. Rishi remains in the lead.

If Boris is on the ballot paper then heaven help us. The Tory party members are daft enough to elect him and then all hell will break lose, particularly if he is found to have breached parliamentary rules. Plus many Tory MPs may resign, or else refuse to take part in government.

However, if Sunak wins then the right wing are already laying the ground work to stab him in the back, reminding us all that he helped to end the Johnson premiership.

The idea of this lot giving us stable leadership for the next 2 years is laughable and its time for a period in opposition. Sadly, despite being the supposed patriotic party, too many are thinking more of the next election than what's best for the country right now.

I dont believe that they have a contract in place yet that has been assured to provide accurate results. I think the 1922 are praying that there isnt a members vote. But it ill get messy (in many ways) if there is.
