Trump thanks fire service for arranging it so 10000 can fit into an 8000 capacity arena for his latest wankfest, fire service confirms 6500 attendance as per actual regs
And there were a good number outside, he didn't even need to lie to make the point he wanted to

You are a sexist. You want to keep these women to a higher standard than the President of the United States himself!morepork wrote:As much as I am loving this current crop of shit-kicking women on the political scene, I really wish that would lay off social media when responding in an official capacity.
Shame on you.

Re: Trump
In a move that won't surprise too many people, being disagreed with now counts as a national emergency

I wonder how the BOP will react when a democrat president uses this precedent to encpact universal healthcare, environmental reforms, or rights to their own bodies for women etc.
Seems more like treason than anything else.

Re: Trump
It's been said many times, but truly there's a Trump tweet for everything. We could try to look on the bright side and say down the line it could mean actual gun and health care reforms, but establishing a monarch is retarded for any democracy
Looking forward to seeing where Trump finds the money, sounds like he's going to steal from the military and/or disaster relief, no political downsides of course to that plan of action

He'll probably need executive orders for each of those, even with his new powers (if he gets them) - certainly for the pentagon and treasury money. Those EOs will be challenged, just miring it all up in the courts again - lucky nobody's been stacking the courts to take care of any legal escalations then...ABC wrote:ABC News has learned the president plans to announce on Friday his intention to spend about $8 billion on the border wall with a mix of spending from Congressional appropriations approved Thursday night, executive action and an emergency declaration.
A senior White House official familiar with the plan told ABC News that $1.375 billion would come from the spending bill Congress passed Thursday; $600 million would come from the Treasury Department's drug forfeiture fund; $2.5 billion would come from the Pentagon's drug interdiction program; and through an emergency declaration: $3.5 billion from the Pentagon's military construction budget.
Ahhh, bollox!

Re: Trump
I am not sure why people spends time finding contradictions in Trump's words.
It is pretty clear that he will say, at any given time, what is more convenient or useful for him at the moment. And the time span of his analysis is rarely more than a week.
SO yes, Trump is coherent, if you take the time span of 1 week. He is not if you go years back. That's the man. His voters knew, and know. And mostly they are not bothered.

Trump often lacks coherency within a sentence, the idea he thinks in time periods extending to a week seems fanciful at bestgransoporro wrote:I am not sure why people spends time finding contradictions in Trump's words.

He is much more coherent than you give him credit for. And yes, his speeches are, for me, a long list of "huh???". But you don't need a daily dose of Fox and Friends to understand what he means (in the rolling context of a week).Digby wrote:Trump often lacks coherency within a sentence, the idea he thinks in time periods extending to a week seems fanciful at bestgransoporro wrote:I am not sure why people spends time finding contradictions in Trump's words.

And if you do, follow the old Andreotti way of saying: thinking the worst is a sin, but it is also the best guess.

Porky as you know I went through the raise of Berlusconi. So I am somewhat immune from this.morepork wrote:That is some astounding fiscal fuckwittery. Take from drug law enforcement budget to build a partial fence. To stop drug trafficking. Is there anyone that takes this fucking country seriously any more?
If they wanted to stop drugs, which come mainly through ports of entry, they would do what the Democrats wanted to do.
THis is not the case, so any justification will do to hide the real reason. That wall is the monument his base wants. Trump knows his base, knows how to get them to vote him.
And you will see, eventually that the US democracy and laws will be strong enough to survive Trump. I can see the signs.

I would grant it's rarely problematic to work out what he's meaning to say despite the word salad that spews forth, but that makes him simplistic as much as if not more than coherentgransoporro wrote:He is much more coherent than you give him credit for. He hasn't got the attention span capable of answering a single question. He just side tracks himself by trying to tell the world how great he is.
