And I don't go from there to thinking he's coherent, more an awful lot of voters are depressingly stupid. In the recent congressional race that lunatic nazi who ran as a republican in Illinois got around 25% of the vote, and that was with republicans saying don't vote for him he's a piece of shit, vote for the democratgransoporro wrote:Granted!Digby wrote:Put another way, George Bush Jnr is a far superior thinker and much more gifted public speaker

Re: Trump
Nice example. I would not call that 25% depressingly stupid, More like "far right voters". And that was Illinois, not some backwater. Trump is a symptom, not the illness. He rides the illness, so to speak.Digby wrote:And I don't go from there to thinking he's coherent, more an awful lot of voters are depressingly stupid. Re: Trump
Trump whilst whining nobody has given him a Nobel peace prize has claimed he saved so many lives in Idlib that he's saved more than most likely even live there. It's just nonsense he spouts, as a consequence it can't possibly be coherent, which isn't to say Trump's voters are not both thick as shit and gullible

I'm well aware that the fat cunt represents some sick people in the voting populace, but he is manifestly incompetent, more so than even someone like that idiot Berlusconi. He is being driven by rich white men that transfer the blame for inequality to people that aren't in their white man rich club and fuckheads swallow it. Trump is not fully cognisant of this, no matter how people try to spin it. The real emergency is that the executive branch of government can be hijacked so easily by these people that a special needs case like Trump can actually exist in the space. It's fucking broken.

Just like B, T does marketing and branding - what made them rich - applied to politics. He knows what his base wants. He has 0 ideology and no moral compass, so you can see him freely float from one position to another. If he actually cared about something, he would either be cognissant or find someone that is.morepork wrote:I'm well aware that the fat cunt represents some sick people in the voting populace, but he is manifestly incompetent, more so than even someone like that idiot Berlusconi. The hijacking is real, but rather than a pro move it is an amateur one. Then you will see the checks and balances come into play from all different and strange directions.
Did anyone notice how Justice Roberts, of the longstanding conservative positions, is now a full swing vote in the SCOTUS?

Trump got rich by being handed 20 000 properties in Manhattan. Any foray outside of that has failed. He is so stupid it’s pathological. The checks and balances are so superficial that they can be undermined by Facebook. That is a broke dick.

Re: Trump
Your moral compass puts you outside the discussion. Actual nazis do exist here, and lots of people share partial views with them: they would not support a genocide, but would not recognize others the same rights they think they are entitled to, and think that nationalism is a very good thing.Digby wrote:I'd accept insane rather than stupid, but not coherentgransoporro wrote:If spomeone is an actual nazi, and they vote for a nazi, they are coherent, not stupid.Digby wrote:And if you're voting for an actual nazi any label of far right is synonymous with stupid
They would keep it under a lid until November 2016. They are much bolder these days, and they may be people you know.
*They may even come in your face and taunt you for, I don't know, saying that transgenders are human beings, have the same rights of everyone else, and shouldn't be targeted for who they are.
*: the above episode may or may not have happened to me.

Re: Trump
It's the signing of the bill and declaring an emergency that pretty much violates the bill that makes me laugh.
What a fucking moron.
He was particularly childlike during his press conference too. He just cannot cope with criticism and unless everyone is heaping praise on him, he'll do it himself.

I just watched it. Sweet mother of fuck. If you home schooled a product of several generations of consanguineous relationships using nothing but lego, unedited tabloid newspapers, and a space program primate that had miraculously survived orbiting the Sun and crash landing in the Khazakhstani desert for a teacher, that child would still present a more cogent argument than that on display by the President yesterday.
"I get my numbers from a lot of sources, like Homeland Security, primarily. And the numbers that I have from Homeland Security are a disaster. And you know what else is a disaster? The numbers that come out of Homeland Security, Kirstjen, for the cost that we spend and the money that we lose because of illegal immigration. Billions and billions of dollars a month. Billions and billions of dollars and it’s unnecessary. . . . I use many stats . . . you have stats far worse than the ones I use, but I use many stats. But I also use Homeland Security."

It appears to be frighteningly easy to leverage conspiracy theory to counter scientific fact and engineer unfettered, dangerously dysregulated access to what you want at the expense of everything else. An adult with a functioning brain is needed to counter these raging thundercunts.

Not one adult, several thousands. And strategically located in swing states.

Re: Trump
2 small things about that article, specifically about Soros and the Hungarian political situation.
1) While the propaganda against Soros is disgusting and over-the-top, there is no denying his involvement in...political organisations masquerading as NGOs. A lot of what he had been doing around "democracy" in Eastern Europe PRIOR to Orban was questionable in motive at best. So he was a very, very easy target. Because he'd already been doing things that could be considered against many countries and governments, even if those countries/governments were trying to do the correct things.
2) Hungary was called an economic basket case in the article but it is also a political one. The PM before Orban was a man called Gyurcsany, who pretty much admitted to lying to the people. Which was a problem in and of itself, and explains Orban's original win. However, Gyurcsany did not then leave politics. That kind of politician in the UK would at the least retreat to the backbenches, but not in Hungary.
First, he led the socialist party into that first election, which he inevitably lost. Then he was kicked out, so he formed a new party and split the vote (because for some unknown reason 10s of thousands of people are still willing to vote for a known liar). But it gets worse...The socialist party then elected another member of the old guard as their leader, who didn't get on with anyone in the party, which meant the party split in two again. So now there are 3 socialist parties (MSZP (Socialists), DK (Gyurcsany), Egyutt (the new split).
Would you ever have thought that might split the vote further? But it gets worse...
These 3 parties consistently fail to come up with anything that could make them electable. Meanwhile, a liberal socialist alternative (LMP), sprung up who actually had some good policies, but with no finance have not had the means to win more than 5 seats (currently 6), not helped by gerrymandering.
So, while the anti-migrant rhetoric is ramped up, people are given a choice between the party for the Hungarian people (Fidesz), the Neo-Nazis (Jobbik), 3 basket cases, and a party they see as not having the funds to get elected. And then the kids arrive with their own party, Momentum, who want to muscle in on the act but only succeed in alienating more people and take attention away from politicians who could make a difference.
So there we have it.
If you were to pick an individual in European politics to back 10 years ago, you would have picked Orban every single day. Even without these repugnant people, he would have been in power all this time.
I think they're just very good at picking winners.

Re: Trump
I for one am shocked Trump isn't saddened by the actions of Bob Kraft of the New England Patriots, and is saddened instead by the fact his friend was arrested. Who knew Trump would think there was no need for corrective actions when a white billionaire was accused of sex crimes
