Hm. Well there is a bit of a schism among the Democrats for a while now. It became very apparent in the recent primary election results for NY state, between Andrew Cuomo and Cynthia Nixon. Cuomo won, and most importantly, in NYC. But he lost in Tompkins County, where a large part of the electorate sits at Cornell University (even though the Nixon campaign misspelled 'Ithaca'). He was unpopular from the very moment Clinton endorsed him.Digby wrote:I've never gotten the impression voters who typically vote Democratic hate Clinton, more she's just not appealing to huge numbers. Well of course people in a party disagree on who should be leading it, that's always the case. Perhaps even unpopular is too strong a term, but I'd be much closer to agreeing with that rather than hateEliashberg wrote:Hm. Well there is a bit of a schism among the Democrats for a while now. Re: Trump
Indeed, Cuomo was unpopular, not hated. But Hillary, photoshopping her face on a Nazi costume and handing out the flyers at local Democrat conventions? That's pretty close to hate for me, though. The whole "Bernie or Bust" thing went generally too far. There were a lot of morons that voted for him against Hillary, and then for Trump as a protest vote. The split in the party is still there, though, and its a topic of daily discussion.Digby wrote:Well of course people in a party disagree on who should be leading it, that's always the case. Sage advice from Donny that Boeing should fix the plane that keeps flying into the ground, no chance Boeing think of that for themselves. Also great advice to add some great new features, though in this he's sadly not specific, cheeseburger holders alongside drink holders maybe?
Finally bless him for inviting commentary on what he knows, one suspects he'll be getting a lot of updates as to what the world thinks he knows

He is on a roll. A real problem solver, but maybe with too much food colouring in the diet.
Flying water tankers. Get in.
Edit: the president said that the cathedral was “burning at a level that you rarely see a fire burn.”

Re: Trump
He really is a walking exemplar of the Dunning-Kruger effect. What I like best about that is that he really thinks he's helping - like there are people in France standing next to some "flying water tankers" doing nothing until they see his tweet and shout, "Bien sûr! Le water tanker. C'est façile!" And then they jump in the plane seats and Donald is hailed as the hero of France for his idea making.morepork wrote:He is on a roll. I'm sure the professionals on the ground were very grateful for his input.
But they were probably too busy trying to rescue all that priceless, flammable artwork from the interior.
It looks/sounds like the decision to let it burn itself out was made pretty early on, presumably for good reasons.
Away from Trump, humanity has lost a part of its soul tonight.

This is the fault of the homosexuals! The creator was simply striking his vengeance upon these fornicating symbols of ungodliness by destroying something of his own! Just like the Tibetan monks setting fire to themselves, he was making a sign! THIS CANNOT GO ON! Cleanse the world of this unbearable sin!Which Tyler wrote:I'm sure the professionals on the ground were very grateful for his input.

Now let's wait a day or two for Billy to come out in support of that atrocity above...
And seriously now, what a tragedy. I'm glad I got to attend mass there, but my kids may now never get the chance

Paris fire chief has said they couldn't use water bombing as the it would tear down the actual structure.
AKA, Paris isn't a forest. Different areas have different considerations.
Seems like a good reason to me

It's not a wum. His "gut" reaction to a christian place of worship burning to the ground in a country run by white people was to offer advice that he thought sincere.
The wumming is the daily torrent of conspiracy regarding the actions of muslim members of congress manifest in an all out attack on social media platforms not amenable to fact checking and review. I'm not even going to look on the fucking internet and see how the audience for this sort of shit has undoubtedly shaped the Cathedral narrative into some sort of anti-diversity affirmation. I'm just sick of these cunts.

Re: Trump
It's essentially being reported the Whitehouse has in essence stymied progress to inhibit foreign agents adversely influencing future elections as it's a sore subject to bring up with Trump. Mulvaney, the acting chief of staff, is even reported as having advised people not to bring it up with the President. Mulvaney says he never said anything like that in any meeting leaving the rather obvious thought he made such comments outside a formal meeting
This is rather appalling from Trump who should be saying democracy and future elections are far more important than him, a tricky position for a demented narcissist in fairness

Dude is tweeting dozens of messages per day, invariably after watching something on TeeVee. In the last few days alone he has reported 138 million dead in a terror attack, demanded that Twitter be fair to him after seeing a few thousand bots erased from his follower tally, claimed the Mexican military drew weapons on US border patrol to aid drug smugglers, accused UK Intelligence of officially spying on his campaign for Obama. These are just the highlights, wedged in between quoting Fox News.
Well done 'Murrica. You are a fucking joke.

Re: Trump
An awesome speech from the man on preventing opioid addiction. His one idea was to run an advert telling kids not to try drugs, perhaps he doesn't know that already happens, a lot. Then he moved onto praising China for the death penalty, a dress worn by Melania (at least it wasn’t one of Ivanka's) , how he's unfairly harassed, and around a minute in praise of dogs, there was more but it's genuinely hard to keep track, and this is when in theory he's staying on a specific single issue
