This Errol Spence Jr , Kell Brooks opponent look awesome . Have watched his highlights on youtube. Some of his early opponents may not have been serious competition but each boxer has to start somewhere . Seems to have two good hands and a heavy body puncher . I think this is going to be a good match up and as usual Brook is ever confident . Looking forward to it .

He does look quite a lot like an enforcer it must be said.

Just read that former boxer Errol Christie has lost his battle with cancer after two years . Christie was a top amateur in the 80's , turned pro under a blaze of publicity . His battle with Mark Kaylor , in & out of the ring, made sure of a huge audience . He never however lived up to the high expectations Sad news .

McGregors share will be split with the UFC, still a fairly substantial sum and certainly a he'll of a lot more than what he would get in an MMA match up.

Kovalev v Ward 2 is on Sunday morning SS1, looking forward to this one, the first fight was a good one and there's not much between the two of them.

I remember Steve Bunce saying on 5Live that McGregor had a behind doors contest with a journeyman pro boxer and was hopelessly outboxed and out thought by the boxer . Don't always agree with screaming Bunce but he says its all a load of nonsense but an obvious moneyspinner . Perhaps someone who pays more attention than me can remember the boxers name .

He's not very good, his lack of footwork makes this a foregone conclusion, not that it wasn't already mind you.

Whereas I am a sucker for PPV fights (I ordered in the Bellew v Haye fight), I will not be ordering this one.

The hand & leg speed of the boxer on view suggests that Mac is in for a hard but well rewarded evening .

Of course it's nonsense from a competitive stand point. It's all about money for both of them. Conor isn't a boxer, he has a pretty unique fighting style that is based around his kicking and movement setting up his shots. None of that is obviously allowed in boxing. He will be completely gimped by the rule set.

If you actually wanted an actual competition between them you would set up some sort of half way rule set similar to muay thai or kick boxing but even that would be completely lop sided is conor's favour. Mayweather beats him easily under boxing rules and conor wins in any other rule set (including an actual fight).

This is all just about money. They will pretend conor has a chance to sell ppv's but it's a farce really. The sad thing from my (mma fan) perspective is that with this money conor will retire and never fight again (not that I blame him).

mmm I don't know that video looks a bit staged to me. MacGregor is a better boxer and a hell of a lot lighter on his toes than that video suggests. Still he is nowhere near Mayweather's class, however he can take and give a punch, so if he is taken too lightly by Mayweather may cause a few surprises.

Conor will throw a few hard shots early on then gas and get knocked out. Mayweather fights defensively against elite opponents but with some one like conor he will just toy with him.

I'll be suprised if he lays a glove on him, Mayweather is a master of defence and counterpunching.

I can't believe Mcgregor is as bad as that video suggests could be disinformation, its chronic.

I wont be buying the PPV but I am tempted to watch Mayweather beat him stupid before he knocks him out at whatever time he feels like

No doubt McGregor will try & get Mayweather to the floor , out of his comfort zone , and pound him . I'm assuming Mayweather will do his best to end the ' contest ' asap.

I've seen loads of people from the boxing community say this. It's obviously in the contract that he doesn't get the money of he does any thing outside the rules. Also don't buy into his "persona" that is all for show. He trash talks before fights and then is humble afterwards. He is a normal guy when you see him interviewed in the off periods.

McGregor was outboxed by Nate Diaz in their first fight. And although Nate has very different height and reach stats to Mayweather it is telling that he struggled against him.

What I would say is McGregor carries a lot of power in his left hand and does time his punches very well.

It ended in farce unfortunately, the ref stopped the fight as Kovalev wasn't defending himself, however he had just been punched in the nuts twice.

However I think this may have been Kovalev looking for a way out, in the build up to this fight he concentrated on power with the mandate to take him out early on, unfortunately when Kovalev came back to his corner in the penultimate round he said to his corner man "he isn't going" which suggested to me that Ward had taken some big shots and was weathering them.

I agree regarding Wards body shots, he looked to target the body from quite early on and it was clearly a tactic.

All in all I was a bit disappointed with Kovalev as I was expecting more from him.

The fight prior to that featuring Rigondeaux was an absolute circus, it was stopped at the end of the first round when the Alvarez decided to feign being knocked out when he was hit just after the bell. The ref then took about 20 minutes to decide whether or not it was a no contest a DQ or a win, eventually plumping for the win, whereas this was good in so far that it discourages faking it was not the correct decision.


Oh and Paul Smith was hopeless, time for him to call it a day.
