Lets just be honest and tell it as it is, ye managed to beat a team that is better than ye in every facet of the game by having the fecking coppers drive our lads round Grass Market for an hour and then making them stand in the cold while yer wan from Windsor took a dander down the rug. It has to be true cos Neil Francis says so.
Annie Windsor said "your breath stinks" to every single one in green.
Ye may be right. And most of the lads would have been shocked to hear a daughter of Phil the Greek coming out with such undiplomatic utterances. Suspect wee Kieron Marmion may have had the upper hand when he retorted, "That'll be last night's curry, Mrs. But yer blurt shtinks like yer carring 5 pound o' pickled herring up there"

I am not convinced the scrum problems were all down to our props rather that some clever (sometimes illegal but no issues with that tbh) Irish scrummaging. There was one scrum on our 5 that we got a decent nudge on them back. I still would play Reid and Ford though.
That hoary old chestnut eh? Your scrum was rinsed.
Furlong boring in all day couldn't even save
your blushes. Have a gander at the overhead shots.
Losing to Scotland is embarrassing.
Nah, I'm just teasing. Perhaps you've turned a corner?
Good luck lads.

Best one I've heard since Clive Woodward moaned (also after a loss) about the concrete pillar in the Murrayfield changing room (that was holding the building up) ruining the feng-shui of his pre-match team team talk.
"Not an excuse".....but we will mention it right up front anyway (and let the internet winds do the rest)

Aye that's a good one. The home dressing room doesn't have one. I do wonder if that is really needed.

I thought it was common knowledge it's there on purpose? Backfired for a world cup match though when Scotland were the "away" team.

If we beat France, we will go up the IRB Ranking to 6 (Instead of SA) and if Wales lose, we will possibly go up to the 5th spot.
Of course, all this is just vile speculation... humble, humble,humble...

Just watching it again (I know, I'm cool). He wasnt flawless but still surprised about a few of the negative comments on Russel (not on here but generally). When we got going forward a lot of it seemed to be down to him playinf with speed and zipping out passes from flat. Also put in a couple of lovely kicks and dumped Murray at the back of a ruck.
One of the best things is I think there's plenty we can improve on. We can make a few more of our tackles and be a bit sharper on a few aspects. Im also slightly less concerned about the scrum now. Could still go horribly wrong but on another day with another ref we could equally get a few penalties

Can't agree on Russell. He did some great things but a couple of unnecessary things. He almost put Zebo in under our posts when they were 5m from the Irish line.

That was Dunbar's pass that was intercepted. Russel tried to get round his man then popped it to Dunbar

The grubber wad his big mistake.

There were a couple of dodgy moments, It's just frustrating because he can be so lethal. I'd be overjoyed if Parks had ever threatened the line that way and put in some of those passes, because I wouldn't expect them. I'm more likely to criticise a film that is almost great than one that is a complete waste of time. Is that a terrible analogy? Probably.
It must be a fine line to manage a player like Russell. We absolute cannot beat the flair out of him, that would be a massive shame. If we can get him just a little more assured of when to run/kick from deep and tighten up those massive looping passes he loves to throw he'll be a serious player.

I agree it is tricky but I sometimes think people are expecting the impossible. We want him to take the attack to the opposition and take risks but only if every one of them comes off. Take the grubber, agreed his biggest mistake (and Id say his only big one), it was when we just got a bit of momentum and killed it. However, in the lead up to Dunbar's try he threaded a (fairly) similar grubber through which led to our attacking lineout. If anything Id say that on the weekend he was fairly restrained.

I think he'll develop that balance and playing the game situation better. The two kicks mentioned were different different situations in the game. It didn't cost us, he'll learn from it and we move on with a win under our belt.

I was berating him for those, but at the same time, his wee dink set up the line-out from which Dunbar scored.
Also, kudos to meatball for a great kick in the second half which helped relieve a bit of pressure.

I agree with all of that but also think that the kick was on. He spotted space and had the gumption to play for it.

6 Nations Tournament - Hogg, Russell, Bennett, Jones, J. Gray: new thistles of the Thistle
By AFP
6 NATIONS - Before the match against France on Sunday (16h), the XV of the Chardon has found pungent thanks in particular to 5 elements: Hogg, Russell, Bennett, Jones and J. Gray.
A new generation, some elders who provide, sprinkled with world class players like Stuart Hogg and Greig Laidlaw: the Scotland is poised to take off at the Tournament of Nations in June 2017, before facing France on Sunday. "This is definitely the best team in Scotland I played" : Laidlaw captain assured vehemently before the tournament, the XV of the Thistle in 2017 is no longer there to play the role to -to be worth. As demonstrated his victory against the Irish last Saturday (27-22) at Murrayfield.

"I will not lie, there were times in recent years when we were afraid of what could happen" , then abounded Hogg. "But now we're confident we can do the job" . Behind this revival, there is obviously the coach Vern Cotter , who launched 18 new players in the big international bath since taking office in 2014.
And then there is Gregor Townsend (43), who will succeed Cotter at the end of the season. Since 2012, the coach of Glasgow Warriors , winners of the Celtic League in 2015 and this season qualified for the quarterfinals of the European Cup for the first time in their history, formed at high current rod Chardon . Here are the prickles.
Stuart Hogg (24 years, 49 caps, Glasgow): the centerpiece
Hogg is not only the best player of the Thistle XV, but he is also perhaps the best back of the northern hemisphere. The eccentric player from Glasgow, native of Melrose (south) in the cradle of Scottish rugby, was again one of the most offensive elements against Ireland, with a registered double. Already from the 2013 tour of the British and Irish Lions, he should once again be traveling in June.

Finn Russell (24 years, 23 caps, Glasgow): the brilliant
Described as "fantastic" by Laidlaw, of "awesome" by Hogg, the blond opener worked wonders with the Warriors. His strokes of genius and his appetite for the open spaces make it a constant threat. But former stonemason is also capable of rigor: "He spent time in New Zealand and it shows" , said the captain Laidlaw.
Mark Bennett (23 years, 18 caps, Glasgow): the Olympian
The young center, named for the title of revelation of the year by World Rugby in 2015, is so good balloon in hand that its offensive assets have earned him a trip to Brazil this summer to compete the Rio Games in rugby with 7 .A sole international quinzist selected with the team from Great Britain, Bennett won the silver medal.
Mark Bennett and Sean Maitland (Scotland) - October 18, 2015

Huw Jones (23 years, 4 caps, Stormers / South Africa): the meteorite
He's the player everyone talks about in Scotland. The center of the South African province of the Stormers, who will join Glasgow this summer, is described as "exciting player" by Cotter taciturn. Born in Scotland, he grew up largely in England , discovered the pro rugby in South Africa and made his international debut in May during the tour in Japan . Technically exceptional, according to Scottish back coach, New Zealand's Jason O'Halloran.
Jonny Gray (22 years, 30 caps, Glasgow): the other Gray
Richie's younger brother makes a name in the second row. Slightly smaller (1.98m versus 2.07m), a little lighter (119kg versus 126kg), the caddy Gray compensates by his slaughter. He and his eldest son constitute one of the most mobile and efficient teams in the world. Against Ireland, he made 27 tackles and carried the ball 14 times. With Richie, they plated 50 times and ran 27 times with the ball!
