Re: Trump
His attacks on actual Jews for being disloyal to the USA and Israel if they vote Democrat. Actually that's one of the weirdest parts not just of Trump, but the Republican position, they hold themselves out to be the party that's pro Israel, pro the Jewish community, when election after election that actual Jewish voters in the USA overwhelmingly vote Democratic

How big would a bomb have to be to have enough energy to stop a hurricane?
I hear btw he's no saying he never said they should drop nukes into a hurricane, though he's being mocked as whilst that's technically true he did ask why they couldn't do it.

It would have to be an especially beautiful nuke.

Re: Trump
So two schools of thought, Trump is right and it's a justification to ignore climate change, or Trump is wrong and it increases political pressure to reduce energy being added into the environment. Though I do have some idea Trump was going to have all the best environments, or something like thatStones of granite wrote:https://www.livescience.com/trump-hurri ... -bomb.htmlDigby wrote:How big would a bomb have to be to have enough energy to stop a hurricane?

These are the ones that are so absurdly childish, petty and pointless that I start to think maybe this guy really isn't that dumb, he's just an exceedingly dead-pan troll. It just doesn't seem feasible that anybody in his position would think this is a normal thing to do or say.

Re: Trump
At the recent G7 confab there was a discussion between the leaders as to whether having a democratic electoral system in place should be a prerequisite to expanding the G7 with the addition of any new or returning members. Even Boris Johnson who wants to close Parliament in the UK in case it doesn't vote how he wants thought the answer to that question was yes, as did every other G7 leader, bar one, names shall be kept private to protect the fat orange fanboy of dictatorial regimes

Re: Trump
Before he went to the G7 where he could fail to attend his meeting and then lie about it, before moving on to lie about Obama and Putin, he had announced he was looking at a cut (or probably a delay) to payroll taxation. Has he gone dark on the subject never to mention it again, or does he intend to deliver on this random bit of crap he spouted? And would he cut, or merely delay, the latter allowing him to claim he's not exploding the deficit still further but would still make it a bigger problem for the next President

And of course before nuking storms, Putin, Obama, his wife knowing someone she'd never met, getting awards from groups he invented and never actually got, and before payroll taxes he was going to do something about background checks on guns, before again going silent on doing something about background checks on guns.

Fair enough - I don't understand all of Coco's situation and will back off, although I will note that there's more than a bit of a false equivalence comparing what I tend to argue and accepting concentration camps as a reasonable price to pay for a better economic policy.
Anyway, back on topic - what do we think he's trying to deflect attention from with this hissy fit at Denmark over them not being willing to discuss selling him Greenland?

It seems he is pissed off more that the response has been that it was laughable to try to buy Greenland.
Tiny hands doesn't like to be ridiculed in public by anyone....let alone a woman!
His recent tweets and comments about being the chosen one are quite frankly more disturbing tbh.

Oil exploration rights all round. Not so impressed by shipping lanes - there are international agreements about these things and we regularly see the Russian Navy sailing through the Straits of Dover.Banquo wrote:also rights to the Arctic Circle and shipping lanes opened up as it continues to melt, I'd guess.Stones of granite wrote:Greenland is a potential source of rare-earths, which are currently largely sourced from China. ...however, in the event of trade wars, sanctions and even cold wars, valuable to the russkies. The russkies have been settling on islands around the arctic for years in order to claim said oli/mineral rights. That was kind of my point about the rare-earths, and of course it applies to oil rights too.Banquo wrote:...however, in the event of trade wars, sanctions and even cold wars, valuable to the russkies. Re: Trump
I for one am shocked that when Trump said he (or his administration) had received calls from China saying they recognised the damage US tariffs were doing to them and wanted to get back around the table that Trump was in fact just bullshitting. Though the Whitehouse helpfully says Trump wasn't lying, merely he was trying to assuage financial markets. The ongoing hypocrisy of using such a bully pulpit to so blatantly tell mistruths about others whilst claiming to be upset by fake news is appalling, and another very obvious indicator he's not up to the job.

What state is his brain even going to be in when we reach 2020?
Although he starts off very slow he admittedly picks it up towards the end with a trademark, off-piste embellishment that makes literally no sense.

Re: Trump
This popped up on my Facebook today and made me think of this thread.
PujaThis was posted to reddit, in relation to Twitter algorithms that would 'mistakenly' report many American politicians as white supremacists, if they were used.
"Historians have a word for Germans who joined the Nazi party, not because they hated Jews, but out of a hope for restored patriotism, or a sense of economic anxiety, or a hope to preserve their religious values, or dislike of their opponents, or raw political opportunism, or convenience, or ignorance, or greed.
That word is "Nazi." Nobody cares about their motives anymore.
They joined what they joined. They lent their support and their moral approval. And, in so doing, they bound themselves to everything that came after. Who cares any more what particular knot they used in the binding?"

So, if you happen to be in the path of a hurricane please ensure you don't lose your documentation by letting your house get destroyed by 200mph winds, else we'll deem you a drug dealer or otherwise very bad person and deny you assistance of temporary refuge
