Yes we were really poor back then. And that was a French team with a new Coach (Lievremont), no game plan and lots of new Internationals.
It's when you watch these videos that you notice the good shift the SRU has put in. Of course we will always complain about details, but there seems to be a plan.

I am very(too much) confident about Sunday's game but Scotland's "killer instinct" is yet to be a reality. Glasgow have it, but it has yet to transpire to the National team. Really don't want us to feck up this weekend. I want to be able to see my friends in Paris in a couple of weeks and be able to shove it in their faces for more than a decade of painful humiliation .

I would love for this to happen... but Scotland has not won two major games in a row for some time.

Possibly, but the prop situation is something VC has handled fairly well barring Low being picked for the AIs.

At times he has been down to 3rd/4th/5th choice looseheads in the squad, he identified that Sutherland has potential and he has looked decent for Scotland. He has moved Dell and Allan at times ahead of Reid against reasonable scrimmaging teams (even if not massive scrimmaging sides) and it has worked.

At tighthead, a position we have lacked quality depth in for a long time (and still do) he has handled Fagersons international development well. Gave him his debut last 6N, realised he wasn't quite ready and gave him more time in the 20s at international level. He could potentially have taken him off last week but he was playing bloody well.

Welsh might be better 3rd choice than Berghan, time will tell but even if Berghan struggles if he gets on that is not to saw Welsh would not struggle.

MB, 21 year old . Playing devils advocate how is having a "guy on the bench who you can't even trust to fill in for a 20 year old rookie" worse than someone you don't even trust to bench ahead of that guy? I think everyone has doubts but the coaches will have seen them close up for over 2 weeks now.

Like HP says ZJRF has the engine for it and was playing very well in the loose. There was no need to bring Berghan on. It is a pet peeve of mine that subs are made for no reason, or even worse at premeditated points in the game.

No matter how well he played I can't believe that it didn't take a toll getting through that insane amount of work in the loose and scrummaging against that 4 tonne French pack. I just don't want a Corbisiero situation here.

Yeah, I may have got my tenses a bit wrong there.

French team, only real change is Chouly is now on the bench instead of Goujon. French are probably not going to try and constest lineouts much.
A few small changes in Subs (hooker and Second Row). Both Chouly and LeDevedec are good lineouts players. They will come on later in the game

Wakatawa is a 7s players and his positioning can be a bit off. I think Nakaitaci is faily good under high ball. You also have Spedding who is good in the Air.

The French Backrow is pretty powerfull. All three have played a lot of their Career at 8 the ball wrecking kind).

Someone on this board a while ago pointed out Alan Tait's face after he scored his try and Logan missed a simple conversion (go to 31 minutes on the youtube clock). Absolutely hilarious reasction.

Haha, it really was bizarre that Logan was an international kicker. Probs would have won the grandslam with anyone else kicking

Looking back on that game reminded what a great partnership Toony and John Leslie had. Toony never appeared to be the same player without Leslie, who seemed to always know what he was going to do.

Alright, the only change is that Wilson is out (elbow infection) and hardy comes on to the bench with Barclay taking Wilson's place.
