They just wanted to go in ahead at half time. They chose to kick to the corner instead of taking a very kickable pen a few mins ago. I think they were expecting a few tries.
Fair bit of ScrumWang from Monsieur Le Referee but the Cru aren't helping with poor skills and odd strategic decisions. Not a great look for Whitelock's captaincy. They need to compose themselves.

It's been a fairly typical first half of 2017 Crusaders rugby. It's the second half when they tend to kick into gear (overhauling deficits of 20-7 and 21-5, for example). Plus the ref doesn't seem to like their scrum, for some reason.
Lions have been going about as well as can be expected, but Crusaders have kept it close and have far much more room for improvement. Lions must score first to have a chance.

Honestly, some of the calls he made were just downright bizarre. Moody sent Furlong into orbit, and then got penalised. What the actual fuck?

Probably because he wasn't driving straight
Yep, ref clearly called him for stepping out and coming around.
These are the really irritating errors. Problems with the scrum, lineout, defensive line etc. can all be expected for a team who've only been together 10 days. Not being able to throw a pass 6 feet and keep it below head height is unforgivable.
Could do with the ref doing something about the Crusaders players standing up / rolling out and blocking the scrum half on the wrong side of pretty much every ruck.
