This one … it was a textbook turnover. Great work on the deck and was probably the catalyst for the momentum shift.Scrumhead wrote:100% agree. Struggling to think of a more potent English club team than this current Quins bunch. Genuinely feel like they can put 40 points on anyone at the moment.

Yep. Also a great advert for coaches not making the game overly/too structured. I think Quins have it pretty much spot on but, as Lam will tell you, there is a balance to find and it has a small sweet spot. It also helps when you have the players they do.

Vui started at lock or is that not what you meant? Thomas went off and Lahiff came on at LH. He's been playing TH recently hasn't he? In which case he appeared to have forgotten how to play LH, his former position.jimKRFC wrote:I think the scrum went to buts when Vui moved to second row, can't face looking at the game to check though.Beasties wrote: Then he utterly destroyed Lahiff in the scrum a couple of mins later and Green scored in the corner.
It would seem that he's just not providing enough power to hold the front row there. Against Bath (I think) he stayed in the back row and the scrum stayed steady.
The first 30 mins showed the team/plan is ok, the last 50 showed we need some playing changes I think. Defence coach should be getting worried though.

Vui started at 6 with Joyce and Hodges in the 2nd row, as Luatua didnt start (Harding went to 8). Then he shifted over when Dan Thomas came on for Joyce.
So possibly a bit both - Lahif on the wrong side, less power from 2nd row.

Ah, gotcha. I'd just referred back to the teamsheet at the start of this thread.jimKRFC wrote:Vui started at 6 with Joyce and Hodges in the 2nd row, as Luatua didnt start (Harding went to 8). Then he shifted over when Dan Thomas came on for Joyce.

I'm very interested to see their game Vs Sale next week. Well if Sale can get some players back from injury. A big nasty Sale pack that won't allow Quins front foot ball and potentially a half back pairing of de Klerk and McGinty who'll not allow an easy open game. That will be a good show of where Quins are when they're up against it. They laboured Vs Falcons at the start of the season though obviously without some big guns, though even labouring got all five points in the end.Timbo wrote:Struggling to think of a more potent English club team than this current Quins bunch. If they see off Sale with the same intensity they did Bristol then bloody hell will they be sending a message. Just hope Sale can name a strong side so that we start the weekend off with a bang (again).

Very keen to see how we deal with Saracens or Tiger's/Sale if they're having a good day. A team that are disciplined and accurate enough not to let the game get broken up and have the power to just go route 1.Timbo wrote:Struggling to think of a more potent English club team than this current Quins bunch. I've watched the highlights back god knows how many times now and Murley ghosting Lloyd just gets better. I'm not sure what he's generally like as a defender but he's absolutely rapid and very agile. To see him left flailing like that, from a cross-kick that felt a little too lateral for Murley to really run on to, was so impressive. Obviously the turnover was massive too. He's quietly become quite a complete player and is a quality finisher.

Green has been phenomenal too. You can see why there was no real fight to keep Brown

I think it’s worked out better than expected with Green moving to fullback and Lynagh coming through, but I don’t think that’s how that decision went down.Peej wrote:Green has been phenomenal too. You can see why there was no real fight to keep Brown

I wouldn't read too much into the result, Wasps beat Bristol quite easily at Ashton Gate in the first game and by a bigger margin than Quins.Timbo wrote:Struggling to think of a more potent English club team than this current Quins bunch. Lloyd is a 10 playing on the wing, you would expect any proper winger to gas him, he's only played there by Bristol because of his footwork as he can finish well when inside the 22 with his elusive stepping.Mikey Brown wrote:Very keen to see how we deal with Saracens or Tiger's/Sale if they're having a good day. Not basing my assessment on just one game. They are the champions after all. I’m sure their attack will get figured out a bit as we go along, but right now they average nearly 6 try’s a game over their last 10 fixtures.Numbers wrote:I wouldn't read too much into the result, Wasps beat Bristol quite easily at Ashton Gate in the first game and by a bigger margin than Quins.Timbo wrote:Struggling to think of a more potent English club team than this current Quins bunch. Gustard was slammed for it at the time but getting Brown's contract off the wage bill and using the cheaper as well as younger Green and Nick David should be a long term gain to Quins. Nobody likes saying goodbye to a club stalwart but it had to happen sooner or later.Peej wrote:Green has been phenomenal too. You can see why there was no real fight to keep Brown
Green has been electric for Quins since he got the starting job after Brown's suspension.
