If he gets anywhere near the test team, we wont need to. The commetariat will spaff themselves into a state of nirvana with articles on how we won the remaining tests. Poor old Borthwick wont be able to open. paper without someone suggesting Farrell should be picked again.

that's nonsense. He aims to hit high, aims to hit the ball and dislodge it. Others try similar but manage too slide up on to head far less frequently - simply by wrapping an arm properly or trying to get a hand on the ball.

I think someone said along the lines of it was allowed back then. It was by certain refs for Farrell but other players were shown cards for the same or less. I clearly recall one Sarries game where he hit the ball carrier's head in 3 different incident, and I'm not sure even a pen was awarded in an of them
not a dirty player? Maybe. What he does is dangerous. He knows it is, and has been told it is. And like every player he has a duty of care to other players. As do those who select him. Had he had all the cards he should have had, it would have stopped and we would be discussing something else about him.

I normally have a lot of time for Charlie Morgan, but this is embarrassing. In that article Fazlet gets praised for:
1) His 'movement in defence' as he steps in on the wrong man and creates an overlap because he "keeps moving"
2) Being obliterated by Wilson because "Wilson bulldozes through him, yet is brought down by Beirne without hurting the Lions too much."
3) Itoje's turnover because he joined the defensive line and pushed Genge further out.
4) Missing a tackle on Suaali'i because he "recovered [after being stepped] to join a tackle and ensure the Wallabies must work with a slow breakdown." Extra note: "On statistics sheets, Farrell recorded one completed tackle with two misses. Such a return recalls the words of Felix Jones to the Springboks squad during the 2019 World Cup: “Don’t tell me Owen Farrell missing the most tackles at a World Cup is a good thing”. But some misses are more costly than others and there is far more to defence – and other areas of the game – than this data." Apparently Fazlet knows the right tackles to miss, where someone else will cover for him.

I'm afraid Farrell has seldom received any kind of balanced appraisal from the media. They have fawned over him and heaped lavish praise for even the most average performances.

I just hope Farrell retires soon. His 'presence' and 'class' will not be missed, especially if Silly Bugger messes up English progress by having him in the AIs squad.

Why so? He’s not that athletically gifted, but clearly there is something about his drive and communication that makes him worth having around for a near-infinite number of players and coaches.
I probably wouldn’t have him coaching tackle technique, sure, but I imagine he’s got a lot of the same qualities that make his dad so good as a coach.
He gets OTT praise for things like his ability to square up and give a pass, but you would assume he’ll be working with some players who actually offer a threat of pace or power to go with it.
My main concern would be him actually paying his dues and not just waltzing in to a high level job immediately, which now I say it does seem inevitable.

England were plagued with it for years with Johnson, then Lancaster/Catt/Gustard/Farrell.
