Shame I don't think any of the possibles really made a decent case for test selection... saying that some of the players in the twat on Saturday weren't much cop either...

Poor, directionless performance by the Lions. Faz is no running threat in midfield at all. Content mostly to pop a short pass to a marked teammate. Good games by Cummings and White. Pollock proving to be a useful line out option. Ringrose tried to inject some zip all to no avail.

That was very poor. Largely played like a bunch of players who knew they had little chance of breaking into the test team. Will no doubt lead to moaning about the tour etc. but I think there is an element of rose tinted spectacles here. The tours everyone harks back to contained a fair bit of midweek grind. It's part of the challenge.

Morgan probably the only one to give himself a real chance. I'd still start him at 7 but suspect he might bench.

Farrell wasn't the worst out there but it really wasn't impressive. At least three bad pull backs that kiฤบled momentum, being driven off at least two rucks, and just looking a bit absent for parts of the game (not supporting and not getting as involved in defence as usual). There was one nice chip early but I don't think he is in peak shape.

Feel for Graham. Scottish centres will be thanking him though. Ringrose coming on so early probably killed any chance of him and Aki starting on Saturday.

Pollock's 80 minutes-worth game after game is exceptional. His line-out work was good. He's presumably been told to concentrate on the nitty-gritty and has responded well. I'd pick him ahead of any of the other back-rowers in any shirt number. It's sick that he probably won't even get a cap off the bench. He would have been better off going to Argentina.

Sadly I don't think that team was good enough all round to give those on the periphery the chance to play themselves into contention.

Quite a few looked pissed off at the end knowing they prob hadn't done enough!

Squeaky bum time there. Had the possession to put the FNP away, but so it goes. Plenty of players clearly feeling their way through the squad systems. Credit also for Beale's lot who were up for it.

I thought George, White and possibly Cummings were the only ones to advance their chances of test selection. Although the former two faded rather as the game went on. Many others were perfectly decent just not enough to shake selection up I feel.

Heโ€™s still not as good as Curry, Morgan or vdf, entirely different to Conan and Beirne. But he will be when he gets tougher. Itโ€™s not sick at all, heโ€™s done ok against poor opposition, and will have learned a ton of stuff from the Irish forwards- great for his career.

Agree with this, but he certainly feels hes learnt a lot from some of the other back row in the Lions squad.

I don't see that. I think he's been good but not spectacularly so. I actually thought pre tour that he would thrive more in these games against relatively weak opposition, but you may be right that he has been told to focus on the nitty gritty.

In any case, Morgan has been comfortably better in my view amd would be the real unlucky one.

And this tour will have set Pollock up nicely for the next one. They will not be short of flankers, though not sure on the 8s coming through.

In work so did not see the game. How did Jac Morgan do? I can see he was subbed off early

I thought he was fine but didn't lay down a marker to disrupt any plans, sadly. He was the first back tower subbed I think but don't know if that means much either way.

one excellent turnover but more or less anonymous in an ill balanced back row; JDF had a decent game but did the full 80. Suspect Morgan'll bench Saturday tho.

Fair play to Ryan, was laughably bad particularly the three pens in one phase leading to a yellow.

I did laugh when Faz tried to sell a dummy then ran straight into a double tackle. Then did it again later.

Some decent carries, tackles and tackles, not see nthe stats yet. Not as in your face eye catching as Curry at the weekend, but effective out of position

Lol. Pardon?

Very odd game really. The guys that were pushing the hardest for a bench spot were the ones you couldnโ€™t really take off, as the game was so tight. George, Cummings etc doing (near) 80 probably isnโ€™t ideal for a Saturday game if they were needed.

I think thereโ€™s some fairly harsh assessments of the FNP team on here. Enjoyed a lot of their play, patchy as it was.

Strange to go out with that backrow and find ourselves going wide with no ruck support as often as they did.

Strange jumble in midfield. Ringrose doing what he could but it was all very clunky.

Kinghorn had a solid second half and the way he eats up the ground on the counter is amazing, but I donโ€™t know how much that intercept and missed high ball will have done for his test hopes.

And of course Iโ€™m gutted for Dโ€™Arcy Graham, as everyone else is. He is just unbelievable when he gets going, but has the most awful luck with injuries.
