We tend not to take ourselves too seriously, though Eugene does go a bit Presbyterian every once in a while, Bilston is usually quite Baptist and there was a bloke called Uncle Bob Mugabwe who just nicked everyone's farm and shat everywhere. 'course them's all Ulster types and you'd not be too cheerful if you had to put up with the 'RA, the 'DA and Julian Simmons.

Way, way, way back in the days of the BBC boards there was somewhat of a controversy surrounding the highly unlikely but therefore entirely probable likelihood that my father, a Zulu, who was working at Kilroot as a production foreman and part-time gigolo got hammered and lashed one into old Mrs Spiff who was upon hard times and scratching a meagre living selling shoe laces and green cross stamp books on the ramparts of Carrickfergus castle - hence the blood brothers thing.

The whole Birr thing is not easy to explain - feck, yes it is. Birr is the most boring hole on the planet.

These county boundaries are but lines on a piece of paper. They mean nothing to a heifer-loving, poteen-addled, six-fingered banjo player who's married to two of his cousins, wears an old suit jacket to muck out the byre, and would not know what county he's in anyway. It's all about genes, not maps. And the pool's quite a small one. The infusion of extraneous genetic material, even of a Zulu nature, can only be a good thing.

What do you think went wrong last year?

short answer..... didn't win enough games. especially big games that were there for the taking... Leinster (A) and Leicester (A). Both those games we were the better team and were hammering away at the try line with no reward. Also, worth pointing out that we only lost one more game than Ulster and lost the same amount as Leinster.

Reasons for not winning enough games:
no openside cover... (played JOD, DOC2.0 out of position there regularly). when we did sign cover, Doyle, we were not allowed play him ahead of any irish player. similar rule prevented Mario Segario playing more at TH even though he was the best one we had.
NIQ injuries.... they affect all teams but after Xmas we had zero NIQ players fit.... Saili (occasionally), BJ, Chisholm, Van der Heever and Bleyendaal all crocked.
poor selections....I thought at one stage Keatley would never be dropped.



still, we did beat Ulster twice.

Beating Ulster who didn't have a head coach for half the season is no doubt your greatest achievement last year.

The hammering away at the line seemed to be symptomatic of a lack of cutting edge and ability to think your way out of problems. Certainly dealing from half a deck never helps as Ulster fans know only too well from last season.

without doubt. we played some braindead rugby when in good situations last season. the lack of intelligence throughout the team was a problem. rassie / nienaber should address this but we are still weak at tight head, specialist openside and half back cover.

the highlights from last year were CJs form, scannell and holland's emergence and the ulster games.

if we can get bleyendaal fit and playing regularly, we would a fix a few issues..........though he had never been an 80% goal kicker. i'd take 70% and some control.

Tries by Cronin (Looking very streamlined), Zebo, Sweetnam, ROM, Keatley and Bohane - with a scrum penalty try to make up the 7.

Bleyendaal was 5/5 and Keatley 3/3.

All replacements in on 50 minutes and the hour so it doesn't appear to have added to Rassie's injury problems.
