Re: Trump
The past week has been surreal. More attention has been paid to giving this idiot the impression of authority over statements made on twitter than to anything. All he did last week was golf, watch telly, and whine on social media. The full force of the machinery of government has been commandeered to justify the whining. As I type this he is literally live tweeting shit he is watching on TV, and whining about it.

Re: Trump
it's an interesting move by California state to vote to end for profit prisons, hopefully a move that's copied nationwide, along with some review of how the system at various points allows huge amount of money to be accidentally removed into the hands of private individuals.
also interesting in North Carolina where state Republicans confirmed there's be no counted votes in chamber on the anniversary of 9/11 and then accidentally held a vote with almost no Democrats in attendance and a huge number fo Republicans there to override the governor's budget veto. I doubt all the Democrats were actually at 9/11 anniversary events at the time, but if you confirm there aren't going to be recorded votes on the day it's not unreasonable they're not around in the event a vote is called. whether enough voters in North Carolina have concerns about Republican tactics we'll have to wait and see, certainly it's possible it'll concern enough

It's murky as fuck.
The political divisions in the US seem to be driving so much shit around the world right now.
There doesn't seem to be much middle ground. People are either conservative or liberal and seem pre-programmed to hate the other and not be able to reason with anything else.

Re: Trump
This has been going on and on for years... its astounding because it is finally coming to a head and party demographics are changing on both sides. Not to mention, silent majority of people are finally tired of "equality" "equal rights" "metoo" etc etc etc meaning preferential treatment... being crammed down their throats while their own problems or grievances are being dismissed. Equality isnt enough for some. People on both sides are mad... and hurt Id say. It will get worse before it gets better. I remember a time when your politics were your own and everyone was accepting of eachothers views even if we disagreed.WaspInWales wrote:Well quiteBanquo wrote:Not familiar at all........WaspInWales wrote:It's murky as fuck.

It is usually futile to try to talk facts and analysis to people who are enjoying a sense of moral superiority in their ignorance.

You may not mean it as such, but that reads awfully like, "I miss the days when people could be as shitty as they liked to minorities with no-one calling them out on it."Coco wrote:This has been going on and on for years... its astounding because it is finally coming to a head and party demographics are changing on both sides. Re: Trump
Does anyone know what's happening with the complaint in the intelligence community that's being held up by the Director of National Intelligence and the Justice Department?
if anyone hasn't heard there's been recently a complaint (actually another complaint) made by a whistleblower somewhere in the government circles, this one is in the intelligence community and the complaint was properly made to the office of the Inspector General, the IG then looked into the complaint and found it to be credible and urgent. The IG is then required by law to send the whistleblower report to the relevant department head, and this being an intelligence matter it went to the Director of National Intelligence (or actually this being the Trump administration if went to an acting head) and the head of the DNI has 7 days to notify the appropriate congressional committee so they can commence investigation and/or hearings. But despite the DNI being required by law to notify the relevant congressional committee they've received and urgent and credible whistleblower report they're refusing to pass on that info saying it's confidential and applies to a person outside the intelligence community.
Which means in essence there's an urgent and valid/credible complaint about say Trump, or possibly Ivanka or Jared that the DNI are refusing to see investigated. Flood the swamp, flood the swamp...

Hispanic Heritage month as commemorated by Donald J Trump:
“Yesterday marked the beginning of the Hispanic Heritage Month—who’s Hispanic here? Incredible people … we have much to celebrate.”
At one point, Trump called out Steve Cortes, who serves as a member of Trump’s Hispanic Advisory Council, from the podium. “He happens to be Hispanic, but I’ve never quite figured it out, because he looks more like a WASP than I do,” Trump said. “But I tell you what, there is nobody that loves his country more or is Hispanic more than Steve Cortes. Nobody loves the Hispanics more. Who do you like more, the country or the Hispanics?” Trump continued. “He says the country. I don’t know. I may have to go for the Hispanics, to be honest with you. We’ve got a lot of Hispanics. We love our Hispanics. Get out and vote.”
This is seriously the mast you want to nail your tired anti-PC stance to?

Sean Spicer, the first of the the official White House serial bullshit artists of this administration has regained some professional dignity post-office with a spot on DWTS. Nice one Sean, you really clawed that back.
