"Is Rudy Giuliani still your personal attorney?"
"Well, I don't know. I haven't spoken to Rudy, I spoke to him yesterday briefly. Uhhhhhh... he's a very good attorney, and he has been my attorney, yes yes."
Wow.

Re: Trump
Waiving diplomatic immunity sets no precedent as it isn't a judicial function and is always looked at case by case. It is done pretty regularly for serious offences by normal administrations dealing with their allies. This is no more than an example of the application of America First, which has always actual meant "Trump First".

No legal precedent, but politically it's a little differentEugene Wrayburn wrote:Waiving diplomatic immunity sets no precedent as it isn't a judicial function and is always looked at case by case. So anyone watched this mockup video of Trump personally doing a mass-shooting yet?

Re: Trump
I haven't seen it. Wasn't sure how worthy of attention it was or if it's just another convenient distraction from Turkey.
It's amazing though to think that you/we are at a point something like that isn't even surprising.

So, Trump invites the grieving parents of a boy killed in a hit and run to the White House and offers bland sympathy, before revealing that, SURPRISE, we've also invited your son's killer and she's waiting in the room next door!
You can hardly tell that he's a reality television star masquerading as a politician at all, can you?

In his head, he obviously sees himself as this great businessman who can close any deal. I reckon he thought he could persuade the kid's parents to meet with the wife and that there would be hugs, tears and high 5s. The man is completely detached and devoid of human emotion if he thought that ambushing the parents like that would work.
And he thinks he can mediate peace between Turkey and the Kurds. and that his Jewish son in law is the perfect choice to bring about peace in the middle east

Re: Trump
Perhaps with sappy music and an overbearingly sentimental voiceover extolling the virtues of forgiveness and how Dunn's parents can now have some closure over the untimely death of their son. He'll finally get that Emmy award now!WaspInWales wrote:Such an awesome guy.Puja wrote:So, Trump invites the grieving parents of a boy killed in a hit and run to the White House and offers bland sympathy, before revealing that, SURPRISE, we've also invited your son's killer and she's waiting in the room next door!

Re: Trump
Is it me, or is tiny hands trying to deflect blame on to Boris for the idea to ambush the Dunn family with the prospect of meeting Mrs. Sacoolas?
Tbh, I wouldn't be surprised if Boris came up with something utterly daft and insensitive as this, but I'd be more surprised if it wasn't a Trump original concept that has subsequently failed and he has tried to blame someone else for.

Re: Trump
As I understand it, Boris asked for Trump to help and this is his idea of helping. He's making a deal! Why won't these grieving parents understand the DEAL! Sad that they're not willing to negotiate. Speaking of:
This genuinely looks like a parody. And it's not - I checked twice. Apparently he printed out copies and brought them into a cross-party meeting to show how effective he was being at sorting the issue. He was genuinely proud of this.Which Tyler wrote:
A note as well for the fact that he "confidentially enclosed" a copy of a letter sent to him by one of the heads of the SDF, who will now probably think twice about writing to Trump again. As indeed will everyone else who now has to consider that he will blithely forward everything on to anybody, like a technophobic aunt with a chain e-mail fixation.
