Re: Euro's
Wasn't expecting that. Germans controlled the first half but a dodgy penalty seemed to swing the game in France's favour, and they were full value for their win in the second half. Allez les Bleus!!
When was the last time they beat Germany in a competitive game, btw? 1958??

If they're good enough to play at World Cups, why not in between?

France to win the final by the same score. Not the bravest predition I've ever made, but I hope they do win it anyway.

I wonder if Germany will be celebrating with an open top bus parade?

Re: Euro's
Is that a reference to 2006, which they stole from South Africa and then proceeded to finish 3rd after dipping out to Italy in the semis - only to celebrate like crazy after beating Portugal for 3rd?WaspInWales wrote:I wonder if Germany will be celebrating with an open top bus parade?

No, it's a reference to Wales celebrating with an open top parade through Cardiff later today.rowan wrote:Is that a reference to 2006, which they stole from South Africa and then proceeded to finish 3rd after dipping out to Italy in the semis - only to celebrate like crazy after beating Portugal for 3rd?WaspInWales wrote:I wonder if Germany will be celebrating with an open top bus parade?

Re: Euro's
Ah, well that's a bit different. Wales got further at a major tournament than ever before. In fact, it was the first time they'd even played at a major tournament since before most of us were born. Reaching the semis for them was the equivalent of winning a rugby test against the All Blacks on NZ soil - even if they lost the other two and failed to take the series.
As for Germany, they'll be crying into their biers for some time to come, I should imagine.

Come on Portugal, although you're 5hit ans boring as feck to watch, I've got sweepstake money riding on you. It would also be amusing to see the French heartbroken, and as a Welsh supporter could say at least we were put out by the eventual winners.

Which would be the same as the '58 World Cup (tho we only lost that game coz John Charles was injured)bruce wrote:Come on Portugal, although you're 5hit ans boring as feck to watch, I've got sweepstake money riding on you. Re: Euro's
Considering things that have happened in France recently, I think a Euros win would be perfect for them.

Congrats to the Welsh team for all their success.
The parade and general lauding up has been mightily impressive....days to spare before the final too.
I don't get it.
I appreciate Wales exceeded expectation but still???

stadium looks great, pitch playing bumpy..sub-standard for a final I suggest.

Something about Ronaldos playing in finals against France in France. Anyone remember 1998??
