They pick who's EQ when it comes to their subsidy bonuses to clubs, which I think is what they were referring to.FKAS wrote: ↑Tue Feb 27, 2024 7:28 amThe RFU don't pick who's EQ it's IRB regulations.
And, in answer to that question, I believe the only caveat they put on it is that they require the player to confirm that they would accept a call-up to an England squad if one was offered - as long as Addison is willing to say he'd play for England, he can be EQ for RFU money purposes.

at the moment, even at champ level we get EQP funding for a minimum number of EQPs in match day squads. That's stopping next season thoFKAS wrote: ↑Tue Feb 27, 2024 11:56 amInteresting, didn't know that. I guess he wants to enjoy the English weather without the hassle of playing for England.

James Dunn (6 or 4) signs new deal at Bristol. Has seemed to really come on after a year at Jersey.

Sam Spink to Sarries doing the rounds. Out of contract with the Force in November and has had offers from a few Prem clubs but wants to live in London which seemingly sets up the deal to Sarries. Tigers were keen as were at least one other.

Surprised no Prem club came in for Spink when Wasps folded. He was starting to look very good.

He did an interview the other day for one of the bigger newspapers seeing he had some offers but that all the squads were largely finished so offers were low whereas the Force has space and he wanted a change.fivepointer wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 12:45 pm Surprised no Prem club came in for Spink when Wasps folded. Cabous Eloff (24 South African born playing for Rebels) and Izaia Perese (26 has some Wallabies caps) to Tigers have been doing the rounds for a week or so. Tigers are after a 13, possibly because Matt Scott or Porter are off at the end of the season. I'd assume more likely Scott as he looks for a final chunky salary (wouldn't blame him). Eloff covers both sides and we need better prop cover as van Wyk is average (out of contract this summer as well) and Cronin heading back to Munster.

Andre Esterhuizen: South Africa World Cup winner to leave Harlequins
Well that's a blow.

That's massively disappointing. I had hoped CAtkinson would be given the keys.

There needs to be a level of quality for them to develop in though. Playing against a few England internationals but mainly other youngsters and a scattering of journeymen won't really help develop players. Charlie Atkinson will need to put perform a former international flyhalf to get the 10 shirt, Anscombe isn't someone good enough to command the shirt but is experienced enough to be a mentor and provide competition.

and round and down we go in a gradual spiral. Where is the strategy? I wasnt singling out this one per se, to be clear.FKAS wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2024 2:11 pmThere needs to be a level of quality for them to develop in though. Yeah I know, it's a difficult balance to find. You have to get enough game time for the young EQ guys to develop but also at the same time keep the Prem at a high enough level to make that game time meaningful. Just playing squads of young EQ players won't necessarily mean we have a load of high quality players just that the league games are meaningless and the young EQ guys will be mullered in Europe and won't benefit us internationally.Banquo wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2024 5:07 pmand round and down we go in a gradual spiral. but you dont have to go to the other extreme, just a strategy to develop your own players.FKAS wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2024 5:30 pmYeah I know, it's a difficult balance to find.
