He always was an Edinburgh player. That was a player development loan move.

I didn't realise this initially but Denton injured himself in Wuss pre-season and it looked nasty by all accounts.

He really should never have left Scotland - he'd be looked after up North.

FFS. It really hasn't clicked for him has it.

Starters this weekend (UK) - Maitland, Eadie, Tait, Welsh, Heathcote, Steele, Coman, Cowan, McGuigan, Straus, Barclay
Benchers - Scott, Lawson, Reid, Tonks, McKibben?

Vellacot benching for glous too. Pleased to see Steele get the start, always liked him as a player even if I never expected him to become a star.

Could do with Reid getting some game time as all the rest of Scottish LHs are crocked.

Mckibben isn't SQ.

Vellacott at Gloucs is highly rated.

We have some good representation this weekend.

The McKibben situation is funny, for a while he himself thought he was SQ... He's been on record talking about playing for Scotland before!

I was keeping an eye out for the situation at fly half for Quins, I recall JPS mentioned we had a SQ guy in the academy/squad but they've picked an EQ 18 year old at fly half instead. Don't quite recall his name - anyone remember?

Vellacott looks like he has quite a sharp pass.

Does Davidson still not get a look in at Newcastle? He must be looking at guys like Hunter-Hill, Cummings & Carmichael and thinking he's made a bit of a blunder... From what I recall he was offered a deal in Scotland.

Maitland hat trick as Sarries demolish Saints 55-24.

I saw his walk in to the corner. How did Taylor play?

Just saw short highlights, Maitland actually showed some real skill but I think his classiest moment was a wicked step and offload/assist.

Saw a nice run/offload from Taylor in there somewhere.

Big fat Gordy with a trademark cleanout/turnover against Quins. Cowan putting in some big hits today too, not that I rate him. Weird also listening to them rave about Mike Coman.

Beautiful pass by Cowan on the second try:

Can't watch that at work but there was a belting offload by Cowan too.

He was everywhere. Most effective I've seen him in years.

His and Mike Coman's hit on their young 10 was a thing of beauty

BTW Johnny McNicholl was MoM for the Scarlets as they thumped the kings. If he is holding down a starting berth & performing in one of the best teams in the pro 14 then we should give his availability some serious consideration.

Pretty sure McNicholl is only NZ qualified at the moment.

Even under the little used "Scottish Sounding Name" rule?
