Lovely finish that. Didn't look like he had the angle to get it away.

2 and a half minutes but there's likely to be a couple of minutes injury time.
Not looking good for France.

Re: Euro's
2 minutes of injury time and I will be surprised if France can fashion a chance in that time.

Well, they did manage to create a chance but it's offside. That's game over.

Re: Euro's
Appropriate indeed. A horrible team won a horrible tournament. Last Euros I take an interest in for a while.
So, back to the rugger...

If they're good enough to play at World Cups, why not in between?

Good to see Portugal win their first trophy (?)
A tedious game, and tournament though. 24 teams is far too many (that used to be a world cup!).

Re: Euro's
I started out supporting France, because I didn't think Portugal were playing particularly well. But as the game wore on and went into extra time, I started to think I'd prefer to see Portugal win it, just for the sake of making a little history. I believe it is the first time they've won a major tournament. & home-team France just didn't deserve it in the end.
As for 24 teams being too many, I'm not sure I agree. Probably the main reason I got so interested in this year's Euros to begin with was the fact it featured teams like Iceland, Albania & Wales. The only problem with a 24-team format is it makes it too easy to get through to the second round.
Still, I think it could work for rugby, because teams like Japan, Georgia, Romania, Canada & the US would therefore having a realistic shot, & the success of getting through the group stages would raise the profile of the game in their home-countries. It was, in fact, the 24-team format that allowed African teams to first start coming through in the FIFA World Cup.

They need to go all out and make it 32 teams like the world cup if they want to keep an expanded tournament IMO. 8 groups of 4, top 2 through.
Part of the reason the football was so poor was that teams knew 3rd was probably enough and defaulted to defensive football.

Robson-Cruyff-Kanu's goal wins a BBC Sport poll for best goal.
It was good, top 5 for me but Shaqiri, Griezemann, Payet and Ronaldo all scored superb goals too.

Aye, and Canoe almost fell over the ball, Gera's goal was better too and that didn't even make the shortlist.WaspInWales wrote:Robson-Cruyff-Kanu's goal wins a BBC Sport poll for best goal.

All the d*ckheads skooled by a young lad showing some proper sportsmanship. That little Portuguese lad is what it's all about.
The reaction of the Frog is just beautiful.
It's a shame we couldn't have some decent football in the finals. I was starting to enjoy the good teams working together as an XI.

I'm not really sure I get this, a grown man crying because his team lost a game of football, the little kid should have stamped on his foot.kk67 wrote:All the d*ckheads skooled by a young lad showing some proper sportsmanship. That little Portuguese lad is what it's all about.
