Well his major talking points about corruption in DC, draining the swamp, Hillary being a despicable, lying piece of shit, tearing up the status quo etc. resonated with people for good reason.

There is always people on the fence. The key in US is to energize your base, and possibly deenergize the opponents base. Comey reopening the email investigation on HRC took the wind off her supporters.

You see now how republicans want to make selectively difficult to vote ( urban and suburban areas only). That is to deenergize too.

Regarding the actual elections, I am reading how Trump won the vote by really few thousands votes in key counties of key swing states. The total is around 40 thousands. Those were the key votes.

Elections here are a science.

And if the “Sanders bros” think they are a party in itself and decide not to vote, well, it is their choice. I am familiar with the thinking. The Italian communist party in the 70’s had a similar thought regarding the economic crisis due to lack of fuel: the worse we do economically the better the chance we win in the long term; screw the short term*. My priorities will be different.

*: short term means 2-4 years here, it is not the Trump short term which is probably 2 hours or less.
