If that is a recent photo that is scary. It is over a week since the game

Is he anything like Niko?

30 year old, coming from a Romanian Club... doesn't sound like a Niko to me. We'll see how he goes but it's another under-whelming signing. Naiyavoro leaving should have freed up significant funds and to my mind we've not replaced players of the calibre of Maitland, DTH & Matawalu last year & Nakarawa (and in a bench capacity Glenn Bryce) this year. Compare the signings that other clubs have lined up they still have quite a bit of work to do to keep competitive.

A bit of a strange signing. GLasgow already have three scrum-halfs on the books, only one of whom is likely to be away with Scotland. They've also presumably got Horne coming back from LS now who looks a very good prospect, or does this mean that we get a shot at him?

A tighthead prop or a lock to replace Nakarawa would have made more sense.

Cheap squad filler available during Test windows.

Comfortable enough with that.

We just can't compete with the money being thrown around in England and France for the really top players.

Then pick up a young player who's got talent & is unknown a la DTH, Niko, Nakarawa.

We've already got a lot of young talent needing experience. Kenatale has experience in spades and even the Fiji coaches often put him before Niko.

Anyone know this (big) bod, looking for a contract?

Some more grunty options at lock for Scotland wouldn't go amiss. Jonny Gray can't play the full 80 of every test for the next 10 years, much as I'd like it.

That's just his agent angling for a contract. He doesn't need to be in Scotland to play for Scotland... He's played pro d2 & championship rugby mostly, not sure he's what Glasgow should be aiming for.

Council vote on Thursday to approve their 300(ish)k part of the Scotstoun pitch deal. 750k overall price for pitch, modifications to warm up pitch and repairs to running track. Should pass and Glasgow will be on plastic next season.

That is great for the team.

Just noticed the pre-season arrangements below

Glasgow Warriors will take on English Premiership sides Harlequins and Gloucester in pre-season fixtures ahead of the new season.

As part of Harlequins 150th anniversary celebration, the Warriors will travel to Twickenham Stoop in London on Saturday 20 August (kick-off 3pm).

Gregor Townsend's men will return to England a week later to play Gloucester Rugby at Kingsholm Stadium on Saturday 27 August (kick-off 3pm), with Sila Puafisi set to face his old side.

Tickets for these games will be available from Harlequins (quins.co.uk) and Gloucester (gloucesterrugby.co.uk) and will not be available from Glasgow Warriors.

Meanwhile, the draw for next season's European Rugby Champions Cup will take place on Wednesday 29 June in Neuchâtel.

The new GUINNESS PRO12 season kicks off on the weekend of 2/3/4 September.

Might get a club at short notice but doubt they could arrange another pro team given they can't nail a finish date for the pitch yet.

DSD was MOTM (both official and mine) in Canada narrow loss to Japan last night. Played the full 80 winning his battle at the scrum and carrying hard from start to finish. Running good support lines.

Excellent news. Good replacement for Jerry then.

Neither team was at full whack. Recognised a fair few Japanese players but wouldn't want to call it.
