Barclay is seeing a concussion specialist having shown no signs of his concussion improving after 3 weeks. It's highly doubtful he'll be ready to play in 3 weeks.Mikey Brown wrote:By that do you mean Barclay is gubbed? I wouldn't see it as difficult in the slightest if he isn't. Shame for Laidlaw though, still think he's got something to offer.
I think losing Barclay is bigger than it might seem. Yes, we have back row replacements, but I think Barclay brings more intelligence/ game management than the rest though.Mikey Brown wrote:By that do you mean Barclay is gubbed? I'm not sure if you thought that was what I was saying, but I absolutely agree. That's real shit to hear about the concussion thing. We'd lose a lot without him but they better be certain about it if they're letting him back on the field.General Zod wrote:I think losing Barclay is bigger than it might seem. Yeah - misread while trying to avoid getting up this morning.Mikey Brown wrote:I'm not sure if you thought that was what I was saying, but I absolutely agree. He played age grade for Scotland. I haven't seen anything other than the poster on PR saying he'd turned down Glasgow. This link http://www.scotsman.com/sport/rugby-uni ... -1-4555496 suggests he was approached but that doesn't mean he was offered a deal. His playing opportunities at Gloucs are pretty good too. He's involved in a high %age of games.OptimisticJock wrote:I get the feeling from a discussion on PR that he's not interested. According to folk there he's turned down Glasgow so presumably the prospect of a Scotland cap was discussed. If he's never been involved in a Scotland squad it's maybe more to do with not being interested rather than not having the opportunity.
We've got to remember also that his chances of playing will drastically decease if he declares for Scotland and glous can no longer claim an English qualified player bonus from the RFU.Big D wrote:He played age grade for Scotland. He strikes a cool tone in that interview but it makes sense not to jump up and down about maybe playing for Scotland until someone gives him a call to discuss it properly.
Agreed and that would be all part of the conversation. It is a different conversation now than when he was an academy player. I just thought important to say I couldn't find any proof that he had actually turned Glasgow and/or Scotland for that matter down. Those sorts of rumours are unfair unless there is proof.switchskier wrote:We've got to remember also that his chances of playing will drastically decease if he declares for Scotland and glous can no longer claim an English qualified player bonus from the RFU.Big D wrote:He played age grade for Scotland.
