It is....surreal.
Surreal as it is MP, it has been reality for the last few years.
With how things stand and with the electoral college, there's a very strong likelihood of the tiny handed tyrant getting a second term.
The polls put Biden ahead as they did with Clinton and that didn't end well.
This isn't going to end well again.
Just seen Pompeo give an interview on the Beeb in the style of a monosyllabic recorded message extolling Trump to levels only seen from Trump himself.
The cunt is going to do it again isn't he?

No. I’ve never seen in my 21 years here the union of white and non white , and the realization that government is by the people for the people that both can agree on. He and his ilk are the minority, not because they be white, because they be dinosaurs. That has to, quite literally, count. I’m not going to abandon the biggest civil rights groundswell in 65 years because of apathy. These are my brothers and sisters now, I’m fully imbedded. What sort of snowflake would I be if I hid away now?

But that’s the thing. Just the same as the UK, Hungary, Poland, India, Brazil, Belarus... Trump doesn’t give a shit about alienating people who live in NY or other major blue cities. He knows (sorry, his team know) they’re not going to vote for him. So everything is aimed at the “little man” in the sticks.
I don’t know how voter registration works in the US, but I’d be trying to get students to register in their home state rather than their university state.

Seemingly it doesn't which is part of the problem

I dont think he'll win this time, just enough people are going to see that his lies are just that and the dems will hardly stay at home again this time round.....

Fake news will see him home.
Just look at how popular Fox News is. Then there's all the fringe 'alternative' news sources blasting out conspiracy theories 24/7 which are being lapped up by their voting demographics.
Qanon will have backing in Congress soon!

Fox is by far the single most popular news network, but it's worth remembering overall almost nobody watches a news network. Also of the number that do watch if you sum the audience from channels like CNN and MSNBC you'd go above the viewing totals Fox gets, and like Fox both those stations abandon the concept of running the news in favour of running editorial coverage, and they're very much against Donny

Will they?
I think it's more about getting people out to vote who didn't last time, and the Trump team knows this.
If they can keep Covid going long enough and screw with USPS, they could manage to win. They know that and are using Covid as a means to thin out their opponents.

The only problem with people not staying at home is they mayn't have anywhere to go. The Wisconsin Supreme Court election earlier this year which took place during a time of Covid saw around 3% of the normal polling stations open, which is astonishing. Now you'd expect them to open more polling stations come the general, but they will need to run programmes to attract volunteers, or maybe assign the National Guard, and both of those will require action from those in charge. And it's not like there's a sensible programme running right now to get mail in ballots working as well as possible, whether people being able to register for said ballot, sending out the ballots, being able to have the post return the ballots and have them count or have drop in boxes in sensible numbers voters can use to return their ballots.
The only positive in this is the more Trump pushes this agenda the more he'll struggle with moderate Republicans, independents, and those not thrilled to vote Biden.

Yes the voting system is a serious concern my original post was on a no skullduggery setting

That 3% opening of election polling stations for the Wisconsin Supreme Court election wasn't nothing as an aside. The last general Wisconsin turned out something like 45% of its voters, and with all the additional coverage (albeit with a massive increase in mailed in voting) the Supreme Court election in Wisconsin got over a third of voters to turn out, which is why the queues were just so absurd, and why it's alarming there seems a best a tiny push to address the democratic problem of people being unable to vote. Nobody knows what the rules about social distancing might be in November, but I am pretty sure people will not be standing in line in Wisconsin in November for 4+ hours, you could easily get a sub zero day or not much above.
Though luckily I see Trump having bravely berated the FDA for being the deep state has secured blood plasma treatment from the FDA to secure the lives of 35% of the people who get Covid, impressive for a disease with circa 1% mortality, so who knows, maybe the recovery starts here. (I hadn't heard about the blood plasma until just listening to More or Less, 'tis another trip down the rabbit hole on the fronts of common sense, medicine and simple mathematics)

Some chap Donny has never met, called Eric Trump, has announced he's criminally guilty as part of his role in the Trump organisation as regards inflating the value of assets to secure better loan deals, something Michael Cohen previously testified was occurring. Whether Eric can convince a judge he's guilty to avoid having to sit for his deposition with NY state AGs office isn't known, but given the family it seems possible he'd be able to make an argument in that direction.

Tuned out, tuned back in, now we have Trump surrounded by a cast of cartoon character villains and assorted fat white balding suited men with a sprinkling of trophy wives. It goes like this, Trump "America is great", pause, standing ovation. Trump, "I did this great thing", pause, standing ovation, next lie, pause, standing ovation, Biden bad, pause, standing ovation. Collection of all sound bites from last 3 years on loop. Crowd breaks into USA chant, I'm done.

Why change what isn't broken?
Just had a quick browse of the Trump2020Landslide hashtag and people seem pretty content. So I'm taking back everything bad I said about him.

The good news in the UK is we got pretty cross when Agent Cummings decided the rules didn't apply to him, and cross again when the monarchy decided it was okay the rules didn't apply to him either. But we're not the USA where Emperor Don walked down the stairs using the Whitehouse as a political tool to an event attended by thousands of people all without face coverings all deciding the rules don't apply to them. One hopes those people will now all isolate themselves for 2 weeks, and if they get sick have the decency to still isolate and just die if that's what it takes.

A misanthrope might note that infecting a) a crowd of people lusting after live Trump and b) the kind of people who would associate with a crowd of people lusting after live Trump might be good for electoral demographics.

Fucking nauseating. Fireworks and "Ewe-Ess-A" while Rome burns.
Lies, lies, and more lies wrapped up in an absurd cultural grievance that was dated 50 years ago.

I just don't understand how anyone can take it seriously. The bits I could stomach watching played like a skit on SNL. The Republican party has become a parody of itself.

Yep, but that's the kind of shit that works on their voters

Some of the potential Republican voters, we'd be doing an awful lot of them a disservice not accepting huge numbers of them will vote for Biden as they're disgusted by what's happening around Trump and to their party
