Trump has just decided to announce (via Twitter, of course) that all Coronavirus stimulus packages are to be cancelled until after the election, citing that Pelosi is asking for too much and trying to spin that she wants to use the bill to bail out Democratic states, rather than fight COVID.

Nate Silver (the guy behind fivethirtyeight) had the most apposite response:

Sure, he's freeing the Senate's docket to try and rush through his cult-judge, but in doing so, he's claiming responsibility for choosing not to support the economy and for no more helicopter money cheques for voters. The economy and how prosperous they're feeling are one of the biggest drivers of people's votes and he's gone from being able to offer a cheque signed "Donald J Trump" to struggling families to saying that he has no plans to help until after he's finished getting himself elected.
