Would be a decent move for Denton.

There are 2 Scots in the hurricanes squad this year. Christie and Murray Douglas.

Some effort from Douglas to make it to super rugby last year and now get a contract at another team.

Posted this on the completely the wrong forum by accident as Spiffy brought it up. Thought I may as well add it here. I'll try and find the video again though.

We’ll see. Most on here have been saying for a while we could do with him picking up his game again. Leicester could be great for him.

I did watch a slightly strange interview with him yesterday from when he moved between Bath and Worcester. He was basically saying that Bath like to play an expensive game and that’s not the way he likes to play. Maybe he realised it was a bit of a dumb statement but then added he’s really tried to up his skill set in that time and hopes it shows up at Worcester.

Welsh and Harris both start for Newcastle. Makes sense but I wonder what’s Townsend makes of them at this stage, neither getting a minute from the bench isn’t exactly promising. Berghan and Horne both showed up well though and I had big doubts about both.

Berghan was having a stormer and showed little signs of tiring, there was no need to bring Welsh on. I HOPE it's indicative of Berghan's performance rather than a lack of trust in Welsh. His omission when we've had injury crises over the last few international fixtures has been bizarre.

Surprised nobody posted already but Laidlaw captains Clermont tonight.

Tait, Harris, Welsh & Hogg all started in Newcastle's BP win over Bath with Lawson benching.

Hamilton benched for Leicester against Quins with Visser starting on the other side, Lang on the bench.

LI are all but relegated already. Tonks started at 10 with Steele on the bench. Time to think about whether it's worth bringing any of these players North. Edinburgh could do worse than Steele.

Apologies to all for my tardiness, but Scott looks to have played pretty well for Gloucester yesterday. Scored a good try but also a few very good lines/carries, sucking defenders in to that 10/12 channel. Have I mentioned I think that would be quite useful for Scotland?

For all I know there are a ton of errors that didn't make the cut but here's the highlights. Can't say I noticed much of Denton.

A bruising number 8??
Nope, but if he qualifies for Scotland we should involve him this summer. He is a very good player.

I was about to describe him then realised it pretty much applies to every NZ fringe player... He's definitely not a bruiser though, NZ don't have many of those.

He would fit right into Toony's game plan IMO.

that's pretty left field. cowan has never really shone in either domestic or intl.

Be interesting to see if he gets any game time.

Kennedy is delusional if he thinks that LI have some good performers in the back row.

I dont think that is quite fair. Had some very good club games and very good international moments

LI have been pony for a while and he struggles to get game time. He's been at LI for a couple of years now and whilst they steamrollered the championship they've done sweet fa in the AP. he always seemed underpowered at the breakdown at intl level and frequently got shoved off a ruck with ease. other than his breakthrough season where there were a couple of glimmers of hope I dont think he's achieved the heights that were expected.

I kinda think thats pretty harsh on Cowan, while not everyones cup of tea I think without him and a couple of other guys LI would have looked far worse, the guy has worked his arse off for LI so if he can go to Sarries as a squad player and do the same as Big Jim or KB and get a decent last couple of years out of it fair play

Any thoughts on what will happen to the LI contingent at the end of this season?

Reid has been on/off the 1st choice LH for Scotland. If he still has international ambitions he absolutely has to move.

Tonks - I think he will stay. He is a journeyman.

Steele - Edinburgh should be looking at him. He's already spent a year of his carer in the championship if he has top level ambitions he needs to move. IIRC he is out of contract anyway.

Cowan - has spent a lot of his career in the championship and is 32 this April. I suspect he'll chase one last pay day or stick it out. He signed an extension in October. Then again he's been farmed out to Sarries... can't see him starting for many prem clubs though.

Reid needs to move.

Now Shiel has signed Edinburgh need to focus on a quality 9 above Steelers level IMO. Steele is decent but I'd rather give Sheil a real go rather than persevering with "decent". Steele has missed the boat I think, maybe weeg if Pyrgos leaves as 3rd 9.

Two of our U20's sign deals with Gloucester apparently. Alex Craig is a lock whilst Charlie Chapman is another scrum half.
