It isn't? I thought English people pronouncing it 'day-vees' was actually a particular bugbear of the Welsh? Maybe I'm backwards on that.

Mine is the soft g in Tongan. Or other island names really. I remember them even getting it wrong when they said Inga the Winger.

...or the 'g' gettin dumped completely especially by the estuary flavoured pundits - recently burminnum (birmingham) & no'innum
(nottingham) seems the norm.

-Parents taking young children out to eat after 7 pm on a Friday in a busy raucous bar/restaurant
and then appearing genuinely shocked at what their cherubs get treated with.

Anything-gate, FFS. Do people even know why they say this? I can't work out why anybody thinks it is funny or clever or meaningful or whatever it is supposed to be.

Indeed. Cliches in general, and rugby-writers are serial offenders! :x Scotland the 'brave' whenever they don't lose to the All Blacks by 50 points is another one...
If they're good enough to play at World Cups, why not in between?

World Rugby's web site and in particular its main page which is increasingly dominated by stories about women's rugby - with no indication of the fact without reading at least the first paragraph of the story first. Sure, give the women's game all the publicity it deserves, but I want to know what I'm reading about from the headline, not the content.

Players getting time off their suspension for apologising or admit what they did.

Yes! There are a few where they've had a reduction because of their good conduct at the hearing. WTF is that about.

Italy, Ruck-gate and 'The Chaos Theory'
5 live’s Rugby Union Weekly
Ugo and Chris speak to the Italy coach Conor O'Shea the day after his side frustrated Eddie Jones and England with their innovative tactics at the ruck.

They're joined on the sofa by the BBC's Tom Fordyce, Ugo reveals who his worst roommate was...and there's a story about Ronan Keating.

1 Replying in Tarzan English when I am speaking perfectly good Turkish to them

This was the key that really unlocked the door to the local mentality to me. For all their red flag-waving and Ataturk-idolizing, Turks really only have a superficial understanding of the nationalist concept, which is, of course, a European invention imposed upon much of the world. It's a brand of nationalism which serves only to promote a sense of entitlement, while the main casualty of nationalism is invariably minority rights. I've even had nationalist slogans yelled at me - precisely because I was speaking the local vernacular and insisting on doing so.

High Intensity Discharge (HID) - headlamps that is, and 50% brighter than yer everyday Halogens.
Oft found on top-end motors such as Chelsea Tractors and designed to completely dazzle the motorist in front so he/she doesn't see obstacles and other road users, with unfortunate consequences.
Must have skipped the live-testing phase with this project..

Players being allowed to roll foward over and over after they have clearly been tackled and the tackler has released AS PER THE FREAKIN LAWS unless the laws have changed in which case not.
It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

People who make bold statements but then immediately begin to backtrack as if unsure of what they've said ;)

Tattoos, blonde dreadlocks and man-buns as fashion accessories. I've actually seen guys with all 3

Incidentally I've got nothing against tats and have one myself, but white folks with Polynesian designs all over their arms = cringe-worthy :?

Honorary mention to the current bushy beard craze among young North Americans.

The urban pansy beard phenomenon is not restricted to the yanks chief. It's a plague the world over.
