Gilbert lads
Did Sagan make a first ever handling mistake on a bike?

Looked like he caught the barrier with his pedal to me but such fine margins.
Was convinced Gilbert had gone way too early but what a ride. So rare that you see a long distance effort like that come off.
Paris-roubaix up next. Love this time of the season.

Tips for the giro anyone? Quintana is the big favorite obviously and to me it looks like a race for second place. Nibali always finds a way to pull it out of the bag but I think that Kruswick will be strong again. That's my podium (picking just ahead of Pinot who I think will be really strong).
Stellar lineup though with Yates, Thomas, Landa, Mollema, TJVG and Zakarin all capable of podiuming (though some are less likely than others) and if someone like Rolland, Pozzovivo or are allowed to get into a break then they go end up rising on gc too.

Tour de France starts tomorrow with froome looking more vulnerable than he has in years. No fantasy cycling game this year?

I have a team on Velogames, was wondering the same?

In fact, if anyone is interested, I quickly set one up. At least if no one joins I'll win something...

Good man, saves me having to figure it out. Trying to figure out if Sagan is still worth it with 9 sprint stages where he's likely to place but not win. Anyone spotted any cheap gems worth 4 or 6?

If Cavs fit i hope he's worth the wildcard slot.

Sagan disqualified from the tour for impeding Cav. Cav may well also be out after going down hard and injuring shoulder.
I think the decision was a bit harsh to be honest, seen alot worse. But I suppose the elbow did it for him.

not seen it yet but I read someone blaming him for the crash 1.3 out. Did they penalise him for that too?

The more I see it, the more I think it's harsh on Sagan.
Absolutely gutted for Cav though.

IT was a messy sprint, these things have always happened. Can't help but think, based on the comments from the head of the commissioners, that they've made an example of Sagan in order to try bring some stability to later in the race. I also think that demare is lucky that he's French and in the national jersey because the standard is quite inconsistent there.
Froome in yellow again. Can sky really keep the jersey for all 21 stages? Good to see Yates put in a little dig today but surprised by how strong Aru was.

Aru was very impressive.

Well that was a busy stage. AG2R attacking on descents, Aru attacking when Froome has a mechanical and then being brought to heel by the other GC guys, Barguill attacking and coming so close to th stage win and Uran winning despit only having two gears for the last 15k.
Gutting to see so many contenders crash out though. Portes looked especially bad, Gesink a day after his great ride and Thomas just seems to have no luck (though it's weird that such a talented classics rider crashes so often, indicating poor bike handling skills). I feel most sorry for Martin who looked fantastic and might be second on gc but for an incident he could do nothing about.
Funny watching cycling news forum go into meltdown though with Contador shipping time and Quintana just not in really competitive shape. Nor annoyingly I've now lost both Porte and Sagan from my velogames team.

G is just a magnet for crashes. Gotta feel for him though as that's a possible podium he's lost.
Apparently Porte was going at about 45 mph when he went off!

Thomas saying that Majka crashed in front of him causing him to go down which I guess you can't legislate for. On the other hand he went down on stages 2, 4, 8 and 9 I think this tour.

Gutted for martin, with his time trialling will hardly podium now, he got on the bike, had no front brake and crashed a second time at the next hairpin!
Was a manic stage, dont see why the other guys were so keen to shut down bardet and do the work for froome. Its extremely naive/stoopid to race for your podium position on week one of a tour, put pressure on froome you idiots
Some horrible crashes out there good luck to all

What a snoozefest
At least aru and bardet are going to keep it interesting from here and tomorrows 100k stage has potential for all sorts but don't hold your breath with the fayre to date
Finish's 30k after summit should be limited to 1 per tour FFS, and shorten the flat stages to give the breakaway a sporting chance of staying away

I think Bardet will be lucky to escape a 20 second penalty.

There is still another TT to come isn't there? Froome very rarely has two bad days, and the others will need to pull a bigger chunk of time out of him to stay ahead following the TT.

Wtf was froome and kwiatkowski doing working on the front of the yellow Jersey group? Moronic!
