It turns out that the 'Ukrainian special forces' regiment that were teaching that sweet old grey-haired Granny how to use an AK47 are actually Neo-Nazis. That wasn't mentioned 2 days ago.
Azov Battalion? Yeah, they're a bunch of nutcases. But they aren't representative of the Ukrainian armed forces (or political scene) as a whole, they are merely a hangover from the 2014 chaos. Clearly the Ukrainian government is slowly sidelining them, giving them harmless tasks like training old grannies.

You should bear in mind that the latest Ukrainian parliamentary elections only saw one far-right party represented, Svoboda, and they got only 1 seat out of 450.

But don't let the reality get in the way of your urge to parrot Kremlin propaganda.
Fairy muff.

I couldn't help but notice that, once again, Liz Truss was making explicit threats against the Nord-Stream 2 pipe line.
I hate to be banging the same drum repeatedly but Opec and the US seem determined that whatever happens, Gazprom are not going to be allowed to flood Europe with cheap LNG which will break their cartel.
Like all cartels, they will say and do anything to protect their monopoly.

Are you suggesting America is provoking this crisis to get the Nord-Stream 2 pipeline shut down?

American politicians are incapable of planning that far ahead.

Yeah. Absolutely.
That's why the CIA funded ISIS.
The first thing ISIS did when they were the Western allies was to attack the pipeline.
They subsequently turned out to be psychopathic imbeciles but by then they'd done their job.

Politicians, corporate psychopaths and even the meedja, they love to over complicate politics.
But the first rule of investigative journalism is ' Follow the Money'.
Politics is actually very simple.

As it's stoopid oclock in the morning and I'm passhed, I'll give you another example.
Jacob Rees-Wanker has been holding high office for the last 6 years.
He's been supporting Brexit.

In the last 4 years the value of the pound has dived by 20%. And Jacob's hedge fund has been shorting the pound.
That's treason

I don't know about ISIS, but I agree that Turkey/Saudi/US funded the Syrian Civil War to stop that pipeline.

But if we look to the facts in the Ukraine situation, it is very clear who the aggressor is - a hint for you Kol, it's the one occupying the other's territory.

There's a shed load of gamesmanship being played. The money involved in future energy is stratospheric. I fear that's where the game is being played.

The CIA didn’t fund ISIS. They funded the Mujaheddin back in the day but thenISIS link is just a conspiracy theorists wet dream.

CIA funded the other Islamist groups that the propaganda was portraying as 'moderate' opposition. Saudi/Qatar/Turkey funded ISIS.

Anyway this is off topic...

Show some evidence please regarding the ISIS claim? UG used to bang on about that and then fail to back it up.

I see some similarities with the West's approach
https://www.bbc.co.uk/archive/chamberla ... ce/zjrjgwx

"As long as war has not begun, there is always hope that it may be prevented"
It begun in 2014, but the West is still hoping.

I think they will be praying he goes no further. Putin seemed very odd in his broadcast, must be feeling some pressure. If Putin stays where he is then nothing has substantially changed although he ends up with a couple of new Abkhazias to send diplomats to.

Hopefully the Ukrainian military has been told to keep their heads down and ignore any provocations.

Has Putin finally decided that he can get away with anything? He’s got his own way for so long it must be intoxicating.
