He's only flipping done it. Fuck the french booing at the end, suck it losers!
Indeed. The sheer minerals on that man to just commit completely and entirely to being first through that section - utterly fearless and dedicated to win or nothing.Donny osmond wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 2:40 pm That last overtake was pure guts, although I guess if I was on the wrong end of it I wouldn't be happy

You feel for Koretzky a bit - he put in an astonishing effort through the race. Pidcock tried so many times to break from him and lose him on a climb, and every single time, Koretzky reacted and went with him like he was glued to his back wheel, then still had the energy to break and surprise Pidcock on a climb himself. I thought it was all over at that point. Incredible race.

I think it's one part Pidcock being a very, very strong athlete (he was the heavy favourite), but also not to be underestimated is that some of that 40 second gap was Pidcock being able to stand still, off the bike, and guzzle energy gels - obviously in an ideal world he'd prefer not to've had the puncture, but it wasn't just 40 seconds of deficit.Donny osmond wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 5:39 pmIts taken up my entire mental space for the last 2 hours.Puja wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 5:05 pmIndeed. On the overtake, I don't even think the french guy can be upset, although I'm obv biased, but Pidcock stayed on the left side of the track even after the separate paths came back together. It was just an outrageous manoeuvre and the french guy could do nothing about it.
On the race overall, Pidcock rode him down, and this is where I'd be pissed off with myself if I was the french rider. At one point he was over 40s clear of Pidcock. Either Pidcock is a freakish athlete and much much more so than the others, or Pidcock is on drugs, or the french guy let it slip. I'd tend to the latter, and I think it'd be something that would haunt me if I was in that position.
The margins are crazy in swimming .01 separating 3 swimmers, would mess with your head alright if it went against you, I didn't even handle losing tag matches very well, putting 4 years of crazy work in and lose by .01!Donny osmond wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 9:50 pm Team GB are like a total of about 5cm away from about 4 more gold medals. Can't imagine how frustrating it must be for the athletes concerned.
Unluckily, no one else will be going in Seine.Donny osmond wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 8:48 pmHaving the athletes come thru in boats hasn't worked, not a good idea, it's in Seinepaddy no 11 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 12:11 pm I really hope the opening ceremony is a huge success

Always felt like a massive gamble, especially considering there were co-ordinated efforts to protest the government by shitting upstream and making it impossible for the minister to go for a test swim before the games.Mellsblue wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2024 11:40 amUnluckily, no one else will be going in Seine.Donny osmond wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 8:48 pmHaving the athletes come thru in boats hasn't worked, not a good idea, it's in Seinepaddy no 11 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 12:11 pm I really hope the opening ceremony is a huge success

Why would you assume there isn't?
Yep, it's an upset, for sure - but not "the biggest upset in the history of women's 7s" as claimedpaddy no 11 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2024 3:32 pm Well done Canada
That's not the huge upset it'll be called
Exactly, they showed they were very capable in previous matchesWhich Tyler wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2024 3:52 pmYep, it's an upset, for sure - but not "the biggest upset in the history of women's 7s" as claimedpaddy no 11 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2024 3:32 pm Well done Canada

Are they a bit of 1 trick pony? I haven't seen enough of them to really know. NZ must be massive favourites for gold.paddy no 11 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2024 4:11 pmExactly, they showed they were very capable in previous matchesWhich Tyler wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2024 3:52 pmYep, it's an upset, for sure - but not "the biggest upset in the history of women's 7s" as claimedpaddy no 11 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2024 3:32 pm Well done Canada
