McVisser was McVissertastic one again for Quins. Some great runs, a wonderful finish for a disallowed try, a great try dropped over the line, some hilariously bad attempts to tackle / catch the ball. He's got the lot.

Watched Gloucester the other day and have seen them a few times this season. Scott has made a big, big mistake if he wants to kick on and become a top international. The only thing stopping Gloucester getting relegated next season is the fact there will always be a Newcastle or Worcester kicking about each season.

Odd to be signing an outside back as a project player given he is 26 this year. Wales won't be getting a lot out of him, outside backs peak a lot earlier and wind down a lot sooner.

Well the Scarlets say its a 3 year deal.

I've seen nothing to indicate he is SQ. Plenty of Kiwis have "Mc" surnames but are at least 3rd generation NZers.

I had seen his name mentioned a few places but nothing concrete. Thought I'd ask the question on here.

If he was S.Q`d and looking to Europe he`d surely have come up on the Lineen /Johnson radar..?

Two pretty good 10 performances from Heathcote and Jackson yesterday. It really is time to look beyond Weir for the national team unless his Edinburgh form merits inclusion. The most similar alternative to Russell is Jackson when you think about it. Weir completely stifles the Scotland attack.

On a related Note Taylor played at 12 last game and was pretty handy despite not being as influential as he has previously. With him and Jackson you really do cover every position to in the backline to a good standard.

Hoping for a big LI win today. The usual 4 Scots start today, it's pretty important for Scotland that they stay up. I suspect Tonks will be given a fresh deal based on his performances so far - he's been the best fly half they've had this season.

On a brighter note, when was the last time (if ever) there were 3 Scottish fly halves starting in the premiership in a single game week?

Well that's LI relegated all but mathematically. It's a shame that Scott Steele only just signed a new 2 year deal, he's got potential... would make a fine addition to Edinburgh but I can't see him getting out of that.

I imagine that Maitland will have a clause and will be looking to move on. Cowan & Tonks are about championship level so suspect they will stay.

That leaves Geoff Cross who has fallen off the face of the earth anyway. He could stay as I imagine a few of their props will be leaving as well.

Laidlaw was MOTM for Gloucs at the weekend.

WRT the LI contingent, if it is one season in the championship I could see them still being considered (not neccesarily picked as Maitland and Cowan were on the naughty step). Lamont was picked when he was in the championship IIRC. I imagine that Maitland will move on, I imagine there will be calls for Edinburgh to sign him.

Cowan I suspect will stay put.

Steele and Tonks I have no sympathy for, they signed deals knowing full well it was likely they would go down. At 22/23, Steele has plenty of time.

On a totally unrelated note, I read a rumour somewhere that DTHVDM was unhappy at the Scarlets. I imagine this is just web talk but may peak the Weeg interest again.

That's harsh on Steele in particular. You don't get a contract with the team of your dreams in your cereal box.

I don't think it is overly harsh. I mean in terms of he and Tonks being "stuck" in the championship, I feel sorry for the Scottish boys that got relegated but Steele signed a new contract late February when it was obvious they were in real danger of going down.

That is probably a sign that no other club fancied him, which may say more about how they see his abilities compared to us observers. Either that or he needs a new agent.

As I say he is 22/23 so he has time yet so all is not lost for him yet.

Tonks signed a short term deal iirc. He is free.

He was on Radio Sport today and was asked if he still dreamed of being an All Black despite heading overseas. He said he had always dreamed of it (in a tone that confessed he was not ever going to make it). Unprompted, he explained that he had "no relatives over there" which I took to mean the Home Nations and said he could play for Wales based on residency if he stayed long enough.

I knew he was born up north but he's publicly come out as English again and again. Not worth pursuing if he genuinely feels that way. He's pretty good though.

Is it Lineen that runs the exiles scouting network or whatever it is? I'm sure talks have been had.
