Never wore one either, it was far to difficult for me to appreciate the sound of my own voice with it on. That and the only time I found myself in something as uneducated as a ruck was when one of you lot would lumber up 10 minutes too late for it and "accidentally" blast me into it just as I got my hands on the ball.
Thought that you would have had the better trained than that.

Highlights are up on the Beeb. Looks like Cardiff got in the outside a few times. Possibly the size difference in midfield meant that the defended narrower to help out.

Also see Swinson make the pass from the base of the ruck for Hornes try. If that was Edinburgh it would have been stared at for 5 minutes before taken around the corner and been smashed backwards as happened many times last night.

Not looking good on the injury front pre ulcer. Won't have helped v Cardiff either.
. Glasgow's back-row resources are being stretched after two more injuries in Cardiff on Friday.
Josh Strauss (head injury) and Ryan Wilson (hamstring) were both forced off during Glasgow's 23-19 PRO12 defeat to the Blues on Friday, while another head injury to hooker Fraser Brown, who has played in the Glasgow back-row, further limits the options.

Head coach Gregor Townsend may be have to call up more youngsters for next weekend's match against unbeaten Ulster at Scotstoun.

"The Josh Strauss injury was a blow to him and us," said Gregor in the Sunday Herald. "He was defending really well and making some big carries so to lose him on half-time meant we were restricted in what we wanted to change in the second half.

"We have two HIAs (head injury assessments) with Fraser and Josh, Tim Swinson got a rib injury after moving to the back row initially, Nick Grigg had cramp, Ryan Wilson had hamstring tightness.

"We will wait before deciding because we lost Simone Favaro last week in the back row as well. It is a test of the squad depth and we are pretty good in terms of injuries apart from in the back row.

"Lewis Wynne has been in our camp and involved in our first three games, Matt Fagerson was with us tonight as 24th man so we do have young guys who are next in line if the opportunity comes."
All aboard the Matt Fagerson hype train.

Hugh's brother? ;)

Saw a bit of Bay of Plenty game against Wellington on TV at the weekend. Blake showed up a few times in a BOP pack that seemed to be on the back foot a lot of the time which isn't really his type of game. Windy and p**hing rain unusually for Wellington

Just stick the young fellas in. Wilson is only hamstring tightness, no point bringing Blake back for 1 or 2 games. Assuming he can/wants to be brought back, was it ever known why he went home?

I just assumed Blake was sent out on loan to get him back up to speed for 15s after spending time playing 7s.

. Scottish Rugby is delighted to announce the latest group of players selected for the BT Sport Scottish Rugby Academy for season 2016/17.
Some 31 new faces are included in the 91-strong selection of male and female players across the four regional academy centres, with 11 players joining the top ‘contracted’ tier of the structure to replace those who graduated into senior professional rugby last season.
Daniel Winning (Boroughmuir), Thomas Gordon (Currie), Glasgow Hawks pair Sam Thomson and Robert Beattie and Jamie Bhatti (Melrose) come in to the top tier of the set-up without previous involvement, while the progress of Luke Crosbie, Charlie Shiel, Cammy Hutchison (all Currie), Matt Fagerson (Glasgow Hawks), Jade Konkel (Hillhead Jordanhill) and Ross McCann (Melrose) is rewarded with promotion to the same, fully-contracted stage.
A further 26 players have been selected into the earlier ‘supported’ stages (one and two) of the programme to take the spaces vacated by those promoted through the system and others, who for a variety of reasons, are no longer included.
Scottish Rugby Head of Academy and Performance Programmes, Stephen Gemmell, said: "Each of the BT Sport Regional Academies were required to provide evidence-supported nominations at a series of selection meetings over a period of months. The players were then considered within a national framework to finally arrive at the 91 announced today.
"Obviously the here and now plays a part in selection, such as the individual’s skill set and match performances, but we also need to select players we think can play the game of tomorrow. It’s about future-proofing the game in Scotland.
That’s what makes the academy vital. It’s about continually producing players that can go on and be influential in professional and senior international rugby in years to come by displaying a point of difference - be that physical, mental, technical or tactical - alongside their core rugby competencies.

- - Scottish Rugby Head of Academy and Performance Programmes, Stephen Gemmell

"There’s a whole range of factors that are taken into consideration but ultimately it’s about who we think can follow in the footsteps of the nine players who graduated from the academy last year into the senior professional ranks."

The BT Sport Scottish Rugby Academy represents the nation’s most promising male and female rugby players, with those named today the second tranche of inductees since the governing body’s investment announced last year, in partnership with four regional centres in Aberdeen, Cumbernauld, Edinburgh and Galashiels.

Week in, week out the BT Sport Academies focus on three pillars of player development: high performance behaviours, rugby skills and athletic capacity.

These include but are not restricted to an athlete’s training history and work ethic, and technical proficiency and consistency in skill delivery, while ensuring they are physically and functionally capable, self-sufficient and self-aware.

Developing the players' leadership, accountability and responsibility is also crucial to the system, with contracts structured to allow broader employment or study to help produce more rounded athletes with a secondary career option, should they fail to meet their professional playing ambitions.

Gemmell added: "The biggest thing is that, a year on from their launch, our four academy centres are now fully up and running, with our partnerships giving us outstanding facilities to ensure that the players don’t have any excuses.

The staff, the players, the parents and partners, all have a better understanding of what it takes to achieve success. Have we made improvements? Absolutely. But we’re nowhere near the finished article in terms of what the BT Sport Academy can deliver for rugby in Scotland.

"We’re now better equipped to support our players. The challenge is to make sure that continues while ensuring we take advantage of the improvements being made in the domestic club and school game, as part of a Scottish rugby-wide process that’s continually evolving.

"The challenge to staff, players and stakeholders to innovate and find solutions to issues that continually arise to help us produce players for tomorrow.

“We need to work closely with our clubs and schools to continually support the development of the individual players, whilst always ensuring that they get the benefit of having better equipped players playing for them."

I'm hopeful that we now have a sensible system in place. Broad and flexible enough to catch slightly later developers but focused enough to keep standards high.

Glasgow Warriors and Scotland fly-half Finn Russell will make his return from injury in tomorrow night’s GUINNESS PRO12 clash with Ulster at a sold-out Scotstoun Stadium.

Russell, who has not featured for the Warriors since last season’s Play-Off defeat to Connacht in Galway, will wear the 10 shirt on his 24th Birthday.

BT Sport Scottish Rugby Academy stage 3 player Lewis Wynne will make his first start and fourth appearance for the Warriors lining up at open-side flanker.

Namibian international Tjiuee Uanivi will also make his first start on his third competitive appearance for the club.

On the bench 18-year-old backrower Matt Fagerson, brother of Zander, and 22-year-old second-row Sam Thomson could both feature for the first time.

Stuart Hogg once again lines up at full-back, with Italian international Leonardo Sarto returning to the side and taking his place on the right wing. Tommy Seymour completes the back three.

Mark Bennett comes back into the Warriors midfield after coming off the bench against Cardiff Blues last weekend and he’ll partner the returning Alex Dunbar, who was rested last week.

Scrum-half and co-captain Henry Pyrgos also returns from injury and forms a new half-back partnership with Russell.

It’s the same front-row which started in Cardiff last Friday with Gordon Reid, Fraser Brown and Zander Fagerson all combining.

Co-captain Jonny Gray partners USA international Greg Peterson in the engine room.

In the back-row Ryan Wilson switches to Number 8, with Uanivi coming in at blind-side flanker and Wynne wearing the number 7 shirt.

All tickets for tomorrow night’s game are sold out, but the match will be shown live on BBC Two Scotland.

Glasgow Warriors head coach Gregor Townsend said: “Ulster are a quality team and have recruited very well this season. We know it’ll be a tough test but it’s a game we’re all really looking forward to.

“It’s a boost to have Finn Russell back from injury. He’s been really positive since his return to training and played well for Ayr in the BT Premiership last weekend.

“Tomorrow will be a special occasion for Lewis Wynne and Tjiuee Uanivi, who will make their first starts, and also for Matt Fagerson and Sam Thomson who could make their debuts from the bench.

“Lewis is learning every week and is working hard for the team and deserves his starting place. We're also looking forward to seeing Tjiuee starting after some impressive appearances off the bench.

"For Matt (Fagerson) and Sam (Thomson) it’s a big opportunity to go out and take the game to Ulster."

Ulster back row is average at best. Besides the diddy teams it's probably easiest test there could be for Wynne and Fagerson.

I don't think this ref is quite right in the head... Nicol did immediately look to the ref right after Sarto's tackle though... probably suspected it.

The first one was Henderson in at the side and dumping Seymour on his back. Definite penalty. Was a forward pass too.

The defence has been pretty poor at times.
