So... some random Saffa, signing for Edinburgh, wants to play for Scotland. And, er... maybe the Lions. Cool. Anyone know anything about him?

Update on Redpath. Sad for him but gives Scotland a chance to open dialogue with him for the future.
PS that's actually 2 young players that have suffered long term injuries in Eddie's training camp now - Obano and Redpath. Plus there's Willis who was ruled out for a year after an AP game.
I can't think of any other specific examples but players seem to get hurt a LOT in England training camps. Didn't someone have to end their career because of some judo training in camp? A Wasps back row I think.
Either way it is clearly obvious the RFU does not have much interest in player welfare - after all there are plenty of options in every position. Something for dual-qualified players to consider.

Ah, that's very unfortunate for Redpath. I hope he recovers well.hugh_woatmeigh wrote:https://www.rugbypass.com/news/exclusiv ... cl-injury/

If you bothered to read the article you highlight, it states that Redpath`s injury occurred during his time with Sale, not the England training camp.
A.C.L. reconstruction is unlikely to be carried out just a few days after injury.

He has played for Australia under 20s, but there is some lad at full back for Queensland Reds called Hamish Stewart. Apparently, his preferred position is fly-half...

Is Johnny McNichol actually SQ? If he is why are we not capping him?

I think he's a project player.Chunks Baws wrote:Is Johnny McNichol actually SQ? If he is why are we not capping him?
Lowe of Leinster is supposedly SQ.

God. He’d be perfect. A big, offloading strike runner through the middle.

Blade Thomson also on bench for Hurricanes. A fairly tight match thus far. 13-14 Hurricanes, 58 on clock.
Some bloke called Josh Renton on Highlanders’ Bench. No idea if he’s got a Scottish granny or what.

All three hurricanes on, but they’re getting pumped now. No-one really standing out.

His first contract extension was baffling enough. This one... No idea.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/44440283
He can't be on a lot of money either if Exeter keep giving him extensions.
He used to be one of my favourite players years ago - thought he'd go onto relatively big things... but has been a squad fodder player at best for the last 3 years.

Ashton signing for Sale puts McGuigan's game time under serious threat. Our wing options are not as deep as we'd like to think.

Putting this here as he's no longer employed by Edinburgh but apparently Hardie is struggling to find a club as he cannot pass the medical.
A shame as Scotland could really use him as a backup if ever needed during injury crises and he is a very good player. But there's injury prone and then there's John Hardie...

Agreed. The strengths we want him for, hard tackling and his work over the ball, seem to be the situations he is even more prone to injuries than normal. I just don’t see a way he could even adapt his game and still be anywhere near as effective.

Any idea why he can't pass the medical? Is he carrying an injury?
Hope it works out for him anyway

This sounds awful, but he reminds me of an aging wrestler. Painkillers and, er, whatever, to get over the line in the next match. Panic about what’s to come once the crowds have gone. It’s just not worth it, son.Edinburgh in Exile wrote:Could just be multiple concussions.no sleep wrote:Any idea why he can't pass the medical? Is he carrying an injury?

I feel bad as type it, but I just hope he works it out or, more likely, I’m miles wide of the mark.
The irony of being pissed while I type this is lost on me anyway.

It's one of the clubs at which he supposedly failed a medical.Adder wrote:Hardy training with Clermont for the next 2 weeks before they decide if they sign him or not .

They mention that and say that his recovery is going better than expected.
