I guess, but see above quote. I think most motivation comes from within and is intrinsic to a top player, but accept that it can make a difference.
Internal motivation and collaborative communication are different. You can be pushing ahead with your own career but doesn't mean you're in sync and pulling in the same direction as the team you're in.
revelatory yet smug
Ha. Sir Kev isn't smug, man's an inspiration.

Makes sense after half a bottle of malbec and an imperial stout.

Imperial stouts > wine of any variety I'm afraid.

Rumours that Danny Wilson will join Tigers until the end of the season to assist Wigglesworth before joining up with Quins in the summer.
More rumours that Gregor Townsend is a done deal to take over post world cup as well.

Not sure how I feel about Gregor. He's hardly popular with the Scots fans with a feeling that he's not getting the best out of them.

I kind of feel Gregor's problems all stem from his inability to get Finn Russell to act like a reliable professional as opposed to the happy go lucky bloke he is. Scotland with Finn Russell are the best Scottish team since Gregor was playing. Without him they lack a bit of spark, mainly because Hastings has a tendency to get injured and then the next best option is a converted fullback.
He's made Scotland a much better team than they were under Cotter and he transformed Glasgow. Not who I'd have gone for but if the rumours are true (big if) then we could have done a lot worse. He likes an abrasive team which we have and does normally sort his side out with a decent defence and set piece (we've got the foundations for those) as well as his more expansive and offloading based attack (which we've got no where fecking close to).

Hmm. Unsure about basically all of that, to be honest.

Rugby Paper are running it on the front page. Apparently Townsend was in the frame for the France Attack job as well but the FRU don't want that many non-French coaches on the payroll (allegedly). References the Leon MacDonald rumours again, seems increasingly likely he was on the Tigers shortlist in some form or another.

Danny Wilson confirmed as a coaching consultant, part time to help with forwards and lineout at Tigers.

I'd like to hope Leicester are now dialing up Dave Rennie's number. He'd be perfect for us.

He certainly would. I wonder if it torpedoes the Townsend negotiation as Rennie might also be available immediately.

That would make for a beautiful circle. High six figure compensation to get a coach who is arguably an upgrade.

Not sure on the upgrade bit (we'll see how Steve goes) but the completing the circle certainly fits nicely, particularly with a cash pay out as well.

Initially thought that was another, more infamous Porter and was worried about fkas’s mental health. To lose Borthers, Sinfield, the s&c coach whose name I can’t remember and Porter in the space of a few weeks…

Now he's declared for Scotland I wonder if Ben Healy will lessen the Russell-related drop-off at all, although he's definitely more of an Irish game-manager style 10 than a Russell like-for-like.

Calling it - absolutely the unluckiest player in the Prem in terms of not being capped by England IMO. A granite-hewn stalwart.

Agree with that. When he's on song there's very few who can match his impact in a game. Been superb for Exeter who are in the throes of one helluva rebuild this and next season.

Will Porter to Quins for next season.
It'll be interesting to see what Chiefs do to make up for the mass loss of players. On one hand it could be an exciting rebuild opportunity but on the other hand fans don't tend to like teams in transition.
