Teams:

Ospreys: D. Evans; C. Allen, K. Fonotia, J. Hook, J. Hassler; D. Biggar, R. Webb; N. Smith, S. Otten, M. Fia, B. Davies, AW. Jones (capt), D. Lydiate, J. King, O. Cracknell. Reps: S. Parry, P. James, D. Arhip, L. Ashley, D. Baker, T. Habberfield, S. Davies, O. Watkin.

Scarlets: L. Halfpenny; J. McNicholl, Jonathan Davies, H. Parkes, S. Evans; R. Patchell, G. Davies; W. Jones, K. Owens (capt), S. Lee, J. Ball, L. Rawlins, A. Shingler, T. Beirne, W. Boyde. Reps: R. Elias, D. Evans, W. Kruger, D. Bulbring. J. Macleod, A. Davies, P. Asquith, S. Williams.

Interestingly the Os have no genuine openside so they may struggle at the breakdown, Corey Allen on the wing again which won't do his International hopes any good.

If Ospreys had any sense they'd attack Mcnicholls wing, he's a bit of a liability in defence. However I see Scarlets outscoring them for an away win.

That would require them to have a better coach than Steve Tandy.[emoji6][emoji4]

An entertaining game, but I always felt that the Scarlets would just about do enough. Despite having some talented backs, the Ospreys don’t look like scoring tries. If Patchell had brought his kicking boots, it wouldn’t have been that close.

Yeah, if Halfpenny had been playing Scarlets would have won at a canter.
You get the impression that if the Ospreys were still playing now they wouldn't have scored a try.
What the f**k is going on there?

They have some very good players, the problem seems to be confidence and coaching.

I think a change in coaching staff may be in order to freshen things up.

I'm not sure why confidence is an issue. The coaches need to fix what's been going wrong since the end of last season, or they have to go.

The players seem to look for contact rather than moving the ball away from contact, that coupled with zero offloading makes for a stagnant side.

Hopefully this result will see them push on a bit as that was their best performance so far, albeit with no tries scored.

The defence system of the Ospreys looks very suspect to my eyes ...it is often not drift or up in their faces rush it is a flat line going nowhere and on the heels.
The loss of Gibbes as a coach seems to be more far reaching than single sector of pkay that they are giving up tries more than ever.
But worse is their mode from defence to attack seems switched off.
It was also very clear that whilst Webb and Biggar played ok the rest were not in sync .
There was some offloading occasionally but there were way too many one up runners so they had no one to offload to even if they had the presence of mind to do it.
However I don't think the Scarlets were particularly at the races for the first half either they had their game taken away from them.
They will be tested in Europe next two weeks and they will have to sharpen up their play but they clearlyhave the tools to do it
As for the Ospreys they had better find the tool that sharpens them up first as to say they were blunt is an understatement .

Now it wouldn't be fair to criticise the referee for some of his decisions and there were some brammers .. as they probably evened out. . at least I hope they did.

New coaching team required. Plus a few players who need a kick up the arse.

I am sure a well aimed taser would do the trick on both sides of the coaching fence.

It was an improvement on some dire performances but I honestly beleive they are not working together as units but they also are not even firing as individuals and that part is a team management issue.

That said I just can't beleive that anyone is telling them to run straight into the opposition. ..on their own ...it was like a full on tackling session at times. We even coach young kids to run at the branches not the fecking tree.

We will see this weekend if that was the dawn of a turn around or they were bump started down a hill and are still not firing on all cylinders.

The rest of the team think their superstars will do it all. Fatal mistake.
