Thought I’d start this as an alternative to getting out of bed this morning and so we can come back at the end of the year and see what a load ae shite we all post. Anyway, here are my predictions for the year. Well, the remainder of the season, really and a couple of extra bits.:-

Scotland - beat wales, but struggle in the rest of the fixtures due to injuries and failing to play the conditions Oh, ok then. We beat everyone apart from Ireland and finish second to England.
We then smash the autumn internationals, thumping the springboks who resort to fighting.

Glasgow - win pro 14 after a couple more dodgy displays during the run-in.

Edinburgh - pip ulster to 3rd and get into big cup. Next season sees the SRU release a wee bit more money for some better signings.

Other rugby - Cheetahs to get to PRO14 semis, Leinster (!) to win ERC, Enbra to lose in final of wee cup (but I hope not). Pumas to get to Super Rugby play offs. Questions start to be asked if Eddie Jones’ tenure going into RWC year as the RFU start to get twitchy arses about some dodgy displays.

Players - Hastings to be starting fly half by the end of the year for Glasgow (and doesn’t look out of place), Scott Cummings to start at least 2 of the AIs. Super Tommy Seymour to come good again and get a rest in the summer.

Think that’s it. Time for the end of the New Year’s concert in Wien, a bacon sandwich and a cup of tea.

6Ns - Scotland comes 2nd or 3rd (may get Triple Crown or Centenary Quaich). England won't win, and will look rather nervy at times.

Super Rugby - Crusaders to go back-to-back, Blues to make the play-offs. Australian teams to suck shit.

Mid-year tests - of the announced fixtures so far:
England - beat the Baabaas, drawn series against the South Africans (1 win, 1 loss, 1 draw)
Ireland - beat the Wallabies 2-1 in a test series
France - lol, why bother?
Wales - 2-0 against the Argies, and to beat whomever it is they'll meet in the US.
Scotland - 3-0 in their tests. The Scots tend to play all-sorts, and generally do reasonably well here. They've got the Canadians, Americans and Fijians lined up, and I can't see them dropping any of those.
Italy - 1-1 against Japan
Georgia - Losses to Fiji and Japan
Romania - Loss to FIji

Rugby Champs - a.k.a. the Foregone Conclusion Championships
Springboks to take 2nd place. Argentina to suck a shit.


Joe Schmidt to be named Lions coach for the 2021 series against the Boks at some stage.

Come 6N time I think we'll win 3 games. Would be over the moon with 4.

Even if we're 3-0 by the time we roll up to Dublin it feels like a step too far. If the boys can make a contest of it and play well in that match then i'll be happy enough.

Glasgow to make the pro 14 final but lose to an Irish team in Dublin.

Edinburgh to marginally miss out on third in their conference by 2 table points.

Being vaguely realistic.

Scotland - Third in the 6N. We'll flatter to deceive a bit I reckon. A couple of good wins but we will lose a close one to Ireland, get well beaten by England (just a bad style match up) and squeak past Wales (also a bad match up but they're in a rut at the minute).

Glasgow - Stumble in form around the 6N but make it to the playoffs. Lose in the final (to Lenister)

Edinburgh - Miss the playoffs by a point but progress. Graham cements his place in the starting team.

Other rugby - Exeter win the AP. ERC I've no idea, maybe Ryan Lamb actually leads his side to glory and the EMB spontaneously combusts.

Players - Bradbury to cement his place in the Edinburgh team by season's end and take a Scotland place during the summer. SHC to find his form again but gets stuck for Scotland behind Horne who shines in the 6N. Graham to cement place in Edinburgh team quickly.
